Another day, another update on Jimmy Butler<\/a>. During his time away from the court due to suspension, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported that Butler met with Heat owner\u00a0Pat Riley to “reiterate” his trade request.<\/p>\n

Butler “Not Signing” a New Deal<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In revealing the meeting between Butler and Riley, Charania wrote:<\/p>\n

\u201cButler told Riley that he will not sign a new deal in Miami and intends to only use his $52 million player option in the offseason for 2025-26 as a trade maneuver, sources said. Butler\u2019s seven-game, team-issued suspension from the Heat \u2014 for what was termed \u2018detrimental conduct\u2019 \u2014 ends Thursday, at which point the Heat will be faced with finding a path forward for Butler, with options including a return to the roster or a trade. Heat officials will meet later this week to discuss the best route with Butler, who requested a trade earlier this month, league sources said.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cHeat coach Erik Spoelstra<\/a> and players such as Tyler Herro<\/a> and Bam Adebayo<\/a> have spoken in the last week about finding clarity and eliminating the distraction of Butler\u2019s circumstances during his absence. \u2026 The Heat have engaged with multiple teams on Butler trade scenarios and have received offers but have been hesitant to negotiate further, sources said. Riley has not shown an urgency in these talks, as the trade deadline looms on Feb. 6, sources added.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
