King James, AKA\u00a0<\/span>LeBron James<\/span><\/a>, broke another record\u2014reaching another career milestone that involved moving past\u00a0<\/span>Michael Jordan<\/span><\/a>. In a 119-102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, the\u00a0<\/span>Los Angeles Lakers<\/span><\/a>\u00a0moved to six games over .500. It’s the second time they have been this many games over .500 this season. In the convincing win, LeBron’s 30-point performance added to his hall of milestones. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

LeBron James is ‘Super Cool’ About Passing Michael Jordan<\/h3>\n

LeBron already had the career totals in points (40,543), rebounds (11,208), assists (11,031), and blocks (1,114) over Jordan. Equally noted, he has 2,296 more turnovers than Jordan, but who’s paying attention to that? Set aside the seasons played argument, a record is a record, and passing Jordan is passing Jordan\u2014you have to give it up to James. After the<\/span>\u00a0Lakers<\/span><\/a>\u00a0win on Friday night, LeBron has the record for career 30-point games (563), another move to surpass Jordan in the statistical realm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While championships will forever be the determining factor in LeBron’s and Jordan’s GOAT argument, LeBron’s statistical accomplishments cannot be overlooked. Although he takes pride in achieving these NBA record feats, he is not lost on who came before him. One thing about LeBron is that he never loses his humble nature.<\/p>\n

“Anytime I’m mentioned with any of the greats and arguably the greatest ever to play the game. Super cool. Somebody who I idolized my childhood and I wear 23 because of him.” LeBron stated following Friday night’s game against the Hawks.<\/a> “So, to me, like I sit here and be in a room or in a conversation or whatever it is. MJ is like a super duper dope for me being a kid from where I’m from.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Coincidently, the shot that LeBron hit to cement himself as the 30-point game King was a fadeaway\u2014one of Jordan’s signature shots. Also, coincidently, the fadeaway was the same shot Lebron put up to secure the NBA’s all-time leader in points scored. He sure does know how to do things in entertaining fashion.<\/p>\n

More Records Ahead?<\/h3>\n

When LeBron said earlier in the week that he could play for another 5-7 years, that would <\/span>virtually<\/span> make no NBA record safe.<\/span> Since he won’t play that long, though, he could settle for at least a few more records. Of those\u00a0<\/span>LeBron could reach by the end of his career<\/span><\/a>, if not this season, two involve surpassing\u00a0<\/span>Kareem Abdul-Jabbar<\/span><\/a>. James has already moved ahead of Kareem in career points. Currently, Kareem stands alone in field goals made and most points scored after turning 40. LeBron is 749 shots behind Kareem, who also scored 1,941 points after he turned 40.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

LeBron also has very realistic chances of passing\u00a0<\/span>Robert Parish<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in most NBA games played. He is 90 games behind Parish’s 1,611. Since LeBron is not done playing basketball just yet, he is not done passing records. His future milestone-setting feats ride on the back of his immaculate health and physical shape. No one expects that aspect of his game to drop off, so expect LeBron to pass Kareem again in the near future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
