He is averaging 18.5 points per game and serving as a team leader. Despite his impressive performance, Johnson is facing trade rumors and uncertainty about his future in the upcoming months. Nevertheless, Johnson desires to remain with the Nets.

Nets Cam Johnson Hopes To Remain With The Team

With the team plagued by injuries, Johnson has stepped up big for the Nets. He entered the league in 2019 and spent his first three full seasons with the Phoenix Suns. In 2023, the Nets acquired Johnson in the Kevin Durant blockbuster trade that brought him to Brooklyn.

As the Nets plan their rebuilding, rumors suggest that the team might not include Johnson in their plans. Johnson shared his desire to remain with Nets with HoopsHype.

“I want to build this,” he said. “I like coach Jordi. I like our staff. I think we’re heading in the right direction here. I can’t tell them exactly what to do and how to proceed moving forward. The business will do what the business does. But for me, I’m invested in what we have here. It’s been exciting to find progress and see potential in this team. I want to be here and get this group turned around and back to playing winning basketball. I think we have the group and the assets to do it. But whatever they end up deciding, no hard feelings.”

Nets’ Future Plans

The Nets, currently holding a record of 10-13 are in the process of rebuilding. They have reportedly made it clear that their entire roster is available to be traded. The team may clean house and get rid of expiring contracts, including those of Ben Simmons, Dennis Schroder, and Bojan Bogdanovic. If they proceed with this plan, the team could have up to $70 million in cap space going into the 2025 offseason. This would put them in a position to potentially tank for future talent in the upcoming NBA Draft.

For the first time in a long time, the team is in a great position to rebuild. However, the question remains if they will trade before the deadline or attempt to make a playoff run with their current roster.

Johnson Desires To Remain With The Nets

The question now for Johnson is what lies ahead in his career. Will he remain with the Nets after the trade deadline passes? Is there a possibility that he will be traded again in his career? Johnson considers Brooklyn his home and has made it clear that he wants it to stay that way. However, he understands that the NBA is a business and a constant possibility of being traded.

Johnson continues to prove why he should remain a Net. He plays hard each game and demonstrates his desire to win. For now, Nets fans should enjoy what he brings to each game, as any could be his last with the team. Despite the rumors, Johnson will continue to play hard, hoping to remain with the Nets. His focus is on the team’s next game which will take place on Sunday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Nets forward Cam Johnson is having an outstanding season.
