In 15 full seasons in the NBA, the Davison alum has built an incredible resume. Curry is a two-time MVP, a four-time champion, a one-time Finals MVP, a 10-time All-NBA selection, and a 10-time All-Star. Additionally, he is the all-time leader in three-point field goals made and is an Olympic gold medalist. Curry is arguably the greatest point guard of all time and helped usher in a new era of NBA basketball. Still, he continues to play at an elite level.

At 36 years old, Curry is nearing the end of his NBA career, though he likely still has a few years left in him. Recently, Curry revealed the “only thing” he is still striving for in his career, and it is a major accomplishment.

Even after four NBA championships, satisfying as they are, Stephen Curry yearns for a fifth ring. “Honestly, it’s the only thing I’m really playing for at this point,” Curry said on the NBC Sports Bay Area’s “Dubs Talk,” which debuted Wednesday. “It’s the only thing that matters in the sense of accomplishment.”

Stephen Curry Reveals ‘Only Thing’ He’s Playing For

Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors Winning Another Title Would Boost His Legacy

Few players in the modern era have won five championships in their career. The most recent to do so is Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who won his fifth NBA title in 2010. Additionally, other legends like Tim Duncan, Magic Johnson, and Dennis Rodman each have five rings as well. In his interview with Monte Poole and Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area, Curry speaks about potentially becoming a five-time champion.

“All that goes into the obsession of trying to be the best basketball player that I can be,” Curry said, “and trying to lift my team up and have them lift me up to be able to be relevant in that conversation.

“And then, obviously, in the historical realm of basketball, there is another level. You talk about five-time champions and beyond that. It’s a good place to start from, but I definitely want to get greedy.”

To begin the 2024-25 season, Curry and the Warriors look primed for a deep playoff run. They are 10-3, which is the best record in the Western Conference. Additionally, they rank as a top-10 team on offense and defense. It is still a young season, but the Warriors are off to an incredible start.

The Last Word

Regardless of whether Curry adds another championship to his resume or not, he is an all-time great. However, there is no denying that another championship will add to his legacy. Coming into this season, many doubted the Warriors’ likelihood of winning a championship. Nonetheless, Curry and the Warriors have silenced the doubters very early on. Even if it does not happen this season, the former No. 7 overall pick will likely have more opportunities in the future to win his fifth NBA championship and add to his collection.

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is undoubtedly going to make the Hall of Fame when he retires.
