Names such as Duke&#8217;s <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/cooper-flagg-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cooper Flagg<\/a>, Rutger&#8217;s <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/airious-bailey-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Airious Bailey<\/a>, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/dylan-harper-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dylan Harper<\/a> (also from Rutgers), and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/egor-demin-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Egor Demin<\/a>, the Russian out of BYU (Brigham Young University), are all looked upon as highly touted prospects that teams like the Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz, and now even the Nets will be expected to consider at the draft.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Amick reports that\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/schrode01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dennis Schr\u00f6der<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/t\/thomaca02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Cam Thomas<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bogdabo02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Bojan Bogdanovi\u0107<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0are three significant pieces expected to move between now and February&#8217;s trade deadline. Schr\u00f6der and Bogdanovi\u0107 will <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">be expected<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> to be of high value for playoff contenders.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/claxtni01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Nic Claxton<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is also an <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">interesting<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> name due to his position and talent. Several teams who need depth at the center position will likely inquire about him. He would be <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">a great<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> pickup for most teams, albeit he is injured presently.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/f\/finnedo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dorian Finney-Smith<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0should also be <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">thrown in as<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> a solid 3-and-D threat for a contender, as well as\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/johnsca02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Cameron Johnson<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Then there&#8217;s\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/simmobe01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ben Simmons<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, who is almost certainly to be gone. The question is, who will give him another chance? Simmons is an intriguing player to watch over the next couple of months. His time in Brooklyn appears to be just about up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s rare to see a team go public by basically opening the gates for a free-for-all so early in the season. This shows that the Nets have a plan, and team owner Joe Tsai is implementing it as we speak with no shame.<\/p>\n<h3>From Superteam to Fire Sale<\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In 2020, the Nets attempted to assemble a would-be offensive juggernaut when they added\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/duranke01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Kevin Durant<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hardeja01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">James Harden<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0alongside\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/i\/irvinky01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Kyrie Irving<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. The trio was meant to rip through the league, putting up points no NBA team had put up before. But that experiment crashed and burned\u2014assassinated by injuries to the point where Harden eventually wanted out. As for Kyrie, his off-court distractions loomed over the franchise. His and KD&#8217;s relationship also seemed strained, at least from the outside looking in. When Harden was traded to the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/11\/19\/east-bucks-76ers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Philadelphia 76ers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, the trio was kaput. Eventually, Durant and Irving also moved on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Since that short-lived era, the Nets have been a largely mediocre team. Additionally, the experiment with Simmons has also failed to work. The roster is comprised of some excellent players.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/11\/19\/brooklyn-nets-cam-thomas-available-trade\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Thomas<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, Johnson, Claxton, and Schr\u00f6der are some of them. Unfortunately, as currently constructed, there is no playoff or championship contention <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">in play<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. So, usher in a total rebuild, which brings us to today, where no Nets player is off the table.
