In the stream, Iguodala was discussing the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/30\/warriors-young-gun-gets-candid-on-coachs-bench-decision\/\" target=\"_self\">Warriors<\/a> 2015 NBA Finals victory and receiving the 2015 NBA Finals MVP award. At the time when he received the award, it was a bit controversial, but it became a bigger deal as the Warriors and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/curryst01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stephen Curry<\/a> built their <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/11\/16\/curry-dude-perfect-interview\/\" target=\"_self\">legacy<\/a>. The Iguodala Finals MVP stats weren\u2019t incredible that year, but he won the award regardless. On Kai Cenat\u2019s stream, he spoke about his surprise when he was awarded the 2015 Finals MVP.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Iguodala Speaks on Surprising Finals MVP on Kai Cenat&#8217;s Stream<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Iguodala Admits Shock To Kai Cenat<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the stream, Kai Cenat and his friends were debating Stephen Curry vs. <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LeBron James<\/a>, and one of Cenat\u2019s friends brought up Curry\u2019s one Finals MVP vs. LeBron\u2019s four as part of an argument that <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/09\/26\/2024-25-nba-mvp-odds-lebron-james-mvp-days-are-over\/\" target=\"_self\">LeBron was better<\/a>. Iguodala got one of those awards that maybe should have gone to Steph. <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ClutchPoints\/status\/1858379095999934695\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the stream,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Iguodala said, <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;I don&#8217;t know why they gave it to me. They were supposed to give it to Steph.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This isn\u2019t the first time Iguodala has said something along these lines. On <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JDPcXysrYuw&amp;ab_channel=Gil%27sArena\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gilbert Arena\u2019s podcast <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">last year, he said, <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Steph [Curry] deserved 1 before the one he got\u2026 If it was mine, cool. I know the impact I had on the game. I don&#8217;t need anybody to tell me that I did.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><strong>The Andre Iguodala Finals MVP Stats Aren\u2019t Amazing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is for good reason that people debated if Iguodala deserved the Finals MVP win over Curry. Iguodala, the sixth man for the Warriors during the season, didn\u2019t even start every game during the Finals. That being said, when Coach <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/coaches\/kerrst01c.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Steve Kerr<\/a> made the bold move of starting him in place of <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bogutan01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrew Bogut<\/a> for games 4, 5, and 6, and the series changed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Andre Iguodala on winning the Finals MVP over Steph Curry in 2015:<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I dont know why they gave it to me. His scoring average is the third lowest by a Finals MVP ever. Those numbers are certainly not as impressive as Curry\u2019s were, but it was Iguodala\u2019s intangibles that won him the award. Iguodala\u2019s supporters and the Finals MVP voters would point to his defense on LeBron as the main reason he received the award. Iguodala certainly was great defending LeBron, but James still averaged 35.8 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 8.8 assists in the series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Curry Should Have Two Finals MVP Award\u2026 Or Three<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like Iguodala said, Curry should have had at least one Finals MVP award before getting his first in 2022. In 2015, Curry averaged 26 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.2 rebounds in the Finals. He shot less efficiently than he did during the season (38.5% from three), but as always, he was the key focus of the entire Cavaliers defense scheme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&quot;He&#39;s so dangerous, probably the most dangerous player in the league the way he can get hot&#8230; In 2017 and 2018m we blitzed him with Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson on the floor. The entire offense ran off of the threat of his scoring, and it allowed <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/duranke01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kevin Durant<\/a> to score with ease, which won him two Finals MVP awards. Cavaliers Coach <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/clippers\/news\/ty-lue-admits-trapping-steph-curry-over-kevin-durant-nba-finals\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ty Lue even admitted <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to focusing on stopping Curry over Durant and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/t\/thompkl01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Klay Thompson<\/a> in the Finals.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Curry\u2019s legacy may always be questioned by the haters, but his performances in all four of his championships were likely deserving of Finals MVP consideration.
