While guest appearing on ESPN&#8217;s\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Hoop Collective<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0podcast with Brian Windhorst, Lakers Insider and ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin pulled the curtains back <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">a little<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> further regarding who else he believes could be on LA&#8217;s radar.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Los Angeles Trade Targets Expanding, Per Lakers Insider<\/h2>\n<h3>Lakers Trade Target Potentials Keeps Growing, Says ESPN&#8217;s Dave McMenamin<\/h3>\n<p><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/redicjj01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">JJ Redick<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has seemingly turned the Lakers team around in several aspects. A couple of areas of progress still exist, though. Perimeter and transition defense, for example. However, this season&#8217;s version of the Lakers already looks different than last. Still, the roster has flaws, and GM\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/executives\/pelinro99x.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rob Pelinka<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is already said to be searching the landscape to upgrade at least one position: center.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Names such as\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/v\/valanjo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jonas Valan\u010di\u016bnas<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lopezbr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Brook Lopez<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0have been connected to trade rumors with the Lakers for a few weeks <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">now<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Valan\u010di\u016bnas, currently playing for the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/11\/05\/draymond-green-wizards-rookies\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Washington Wizards<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, was reportedly on the Lakers radar early in the summer. Despite the interest, LA opened their season with\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/wp-admin\/post-new.php\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Anthony Davis<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hayesja02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jaxson Hayes<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. To chat about the Lakers current roster position and trade prospects, Windhorst and McMenamin\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/pgr8t8aKVjY\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">discussed who they think could be made available<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> for a trade at the center position. [19:45 mark]<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s kind of been a nightly exercise here for the Lakers as they play the opponent you&#8217;re like looking at Detroit&#8217;s roster like, &#8216;Oh could <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/durenja01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jalen Duren<\/a> or <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/stewais01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Isaiah Stewart<\/a> be that guy?&#8217;&#8230;You look at Valan\u010di\u016bnas certainly is a name that&#8217;s legitimately still on the Lakers radar and we&#8217;ll have to see how Washington&#8217;s season goes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>McMenamin also inserted the Brooklyn Nets and Portland Trail Blazers as potential trade partners.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We have Portland having a really terrible start to the year but Time Lords back in the mix, could <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/williro04.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Robert Williams<\/a> be someone the Lakers could acquire? Another realistic name you look at Brooklyn they&#8217;ve been very competitive thus far but are they going to be able to sustain that? Maybe <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/claxtni01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nic Claxton<\/a> could be a guy in the mix for the Lakers. Because they won in 202o with the <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/howardw01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dwight Howard<\/a> and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcgeeja01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JaVale McGee<\/a> combo next to Anthony Davis, Davis net let go of that idea that &#8216;thats my best chance to win with <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LeBron [James]<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3 id=\"infinite-content-ad-5\" class=\"ad-container\">Giannis-Type Acquisition Unlikely<\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Lakers will likely not involve themselves in a massive superstar trade. Windhorst briefly alluded to this. That includes someone like\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/antetgi01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Giannis Antetokounmpo.<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Instead, a smaller piece to boost the rotation and help AD is more likely. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> seems the best path, providing \u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/reaveau01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Austin Reaves<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, for instance, continues his much-improved play under Redick&#8217;s system. If this present team can continue playing in the general scope of how they&#8217;re playing, with who they have already, there might not be a need for a huge splash. Perhaps more of an impact move than anything else.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Nevertheless, this season <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">does appear to suggest<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> a significant in-season roster change for the Lakers.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Only time will tell if and when it comes to fruition. In the meantime, the Lakers have business to attend to this week. They&#8217;re looking for a bounce-back win against the Grizzlies, who blew them out last week. Then, they kick off their\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/11\/13\/thunder-nba-cup-opponents\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">NBA Cup<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0in-season tournament against the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/11\/13\/spurs-wembanyama-mvp-level\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">San Antonio Spurs<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> on Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Standing at 6-4 on the season and heading into a second matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night, the trade targets for the Los Angeles Lakers appear to be growing.
