The Nets <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">are expected<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> to be in the selling market by this season&#8217;s February trade deadline, hoping to position themselves for next summer&#8217;s\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/11\/13\/2025-nba-draft-top-shooting-guard-prospects-to-watch-for\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">NBA Draft<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. As for the 12-year veteran, Schr\u00f6der appears accepting that his time in Brooklyn may be ticking. That won&#8217;t stop him from remaining in the right headspace, though. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Nets Trade Prospect Accepting of Possible Exit from Brooklyn<\/h2>\n<h3>Brooklyn Nets Trade Prospect Dennis Schr\u00f6der Familiar with the Crystal Ball<\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If there is one element for many veterans who have not won a championship in their sport, it&#8217;s that they recoil at being a part of a rebuilding franchise. Not all veterans, but many, and Schr\u00f6der is one of those veterans.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/11\/12\/nets-dennis-schroder-not-all-in-rebuild-for-good-reason\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He&#8217;s more interested in competing<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> than anything, and the Nets don&#8217;t appear to\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">be focused<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0on that in regards to contending for the playoffs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Schr\u00f6der is having a fantastic season thus far, and his play only helps him get moved if that indeed happens. Several teams could use an upgrade at the point guard position, and he can provide that for playoff-seeking teams. As for the trade rumors that include his name, Schr\u00f6der intends to play up to his skill set and maintain a solid attitude when going out on the floor with his Nets teammates.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI\u2019ve been in the league 12 years, and people have talked about my name in trade talks for 12 years. I\u2019ve been traded twice,\u201d Schroder said to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/11\/11\/sports\/dennis-schroders-best-basketball-could-potentially-land-him-off-nets\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brian Lewis of the New York Post<\/a>. \u201c\u2026 So [gossip] is going to happen. They use it as an event where they can promote who is on the block. I don\u2019t really care.\u00a0But I\u2019ve bought into this system right now because they pay my checks, and I\u2019m doing my job every single day, and I\u2019m always professional about it, always going to make the most out of it. Get one percent better every single day. And whatever happens, happens. I understand it\u2019s a business, but no worries here.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That is the professional way to go about it, and you have to admire Schr\u00f6der&#8217;s mindset through it all. He is averaging 19.5 points, 6.2 assists, and shooting 47.2% from three on the year. You have to imagine these numbers would serve a much better purpose elsewhere. Perhaps on a team with playoff or championship aspirations, not draft ones.<\/p>\n<h3>Why the LA Lakers Should Consider<\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The first team to mind who could use Schr\u00f6der&#8217;s production is the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/11\/13\/lakers-rumors-lakers-reserve-big-mans-return-pushed-back-after-setback-anthony-davis-availability-updates-dangelo-russells-impact-on-second-unit-cam-redish-defensive-ace-jaxson-hayes-chris\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Los Angeles Lakers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/russeda01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">D&#8217;Angelo Russell<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0will likely be moved this season, and the Lakers need depth at the point guard position. Schr\u00f6der could step in and provide that.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/v\/vincega01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Gabe Vincent<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is struggling mightily on offense to produce points this season, and Schr\u00f6der is not. Lakers coach\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/redicjj01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">JJ Redick<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has repeatedly announced that he loves what Vincent is giving his team. Although, his lack of production might be enough reason for LA to move him. The fact that Schr\u00f6der has a history and familiarity with\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">LeBron James<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/davisan02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Anthony Davis<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is a plus in favor of a return to LA. He also played good basketball in his two stints with the Lakers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Lakers are looking more like a playoff team than not. So, GM Rob Pelinka should be under more pressure to upgrade his team.
