According to GM <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/dunlemi02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Dunleavy Jr<\/a>., though, one standout guard will not be sacrificed.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. Issues &#8220;No Trade Zone&#8221;\u00a0for Guard<\/h2>\n<h3>Brandin Podziemski Given Vote of Confidence from Warriors Brass<\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">While the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/11\/06\/patrick-beverley-considering-nba-return\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Milwaukee Bucks<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0are searching for the light switch in the dark and stuffy Eastern Conference basement, the Golden State Warriors are enjoying their time upstairs with some of the other good teams in the league. The Warriors are 6-1 and playing much better than most expected. Because of Milwaukee&#8217;s struggles and some recent trade commentary from\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/11\/01\/giannis-antetokounmpo-trade\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Antetokounmpo<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, his name is being floated in trade rumors. Likely, he won&#8217;t be going anywhere. You have to think that at some point in the coming weeks, the Bucks will get it together, right?\u00a0Nevertheless, trade speculation continues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">One team that has\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">been pulled<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0into the conversation is the Warriors. Apparently, though, if Golden State is looking to make any moves, Giannis-involved or not,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/p\/podzibr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Brandin Podziemski<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is off the table. The second-year shooting guard has proved to be one of the Warriors best draft picks in recent years, and the franchise is unwilling to give him up.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/5705669\/2024\/08\/28\/brandin-podziemski-warriors-lauri-markkanen\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to\u00a0<\/span><\/a><em><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/5705669\/2024\/08\/28\/brandin-podziemski-warriors-lauri-markkanen\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Athletic<\/span><\/a><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Mike Dunleavy Jr<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">., Warriors GM, recently let Podziemski know that he has nothing to worry about, saying, &#8216;<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A lot of these other teams are calling about you. They want you, but you&#8217;re not going anywhere. You&#8217;re ours.&#8217; <\/span><\/em>The majority team<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> owner, Joe Lacob, also chimed in.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c<i>He told me, \u2018You don\u2019t have anything to worry about. You\u2019re a priority here&#8217;.&#8221; Podziemski said he heard from Lacob. &#8221; I appreciate that, being a rookie and going into my second year, hearing that from such a prestigious organization. It feels good. I\u2019m wanted somewhere. So, I appreciate them.\u201d\u00a0<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Meant to Follow Up Steph Curry?<\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It sounds apparent that Dunleavy and the Warriors intend to have Podziemski around for the long haul. Only in his second year, he&#8217;s proving he deserves that notion despite a slow start to the season. Seven games in, he&#8217;s struggling with his shot. Going into Golden State&#8217;s highly hyped matchup with the Boston Celtics Wednesday night, Podziemski is shooting just 37.8% from the field and 18.2% from three. His\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4709138\/brandin-podziemski\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">career averages<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0tell a different story, though. His 36% career average from three and 44.8% from the field should tell you that he&#8217;ll eventually get back there. Of course, his numbers are short-lived, considering he&#8217;s only played one <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">full<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> season in the NBA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Are the Warriors planning on Podziemski taking the starting point guard mantel following\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/curryst01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Steph Curry<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8216;s\u00a0eventual retirement? Quite possibly\u2014it would seem so, at least. Curry isn&#8217;t stepping away just yet, though. If he is to step into those shoes,<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Podziemski still has a few years of development ahead. If this is Golden State&#8217;s plan for him, he&#8217;s A) in the perfect franchise development situation and B) learning from the perfect example in Curry.
