The Raptors will once again be severely shorthanded when they face the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/09\/charlotte-hornets-wing-daquan-jeffries-ruled-out-for-indefinitely\/\" target=\"_self\">Charlotte Hornets<\/a> in Charlotte tonight.<\/p>\n<p>While <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/barrerj01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RJ Barrett<\/a> debuted in Monday&#8217;s loss to Denver, the Raptors continue to be without <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/o\/olynyke01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kelly Olynyk<\/a> and<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/brownbr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Bruce Brown<\/a>. Toronto also has ruled out star <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/barnesc01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scottie Barnes<\/a> for Wednesday&#8217;s contest. Meanwhile, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/q\/quickim01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Immanuel Quickley<\/a> is doubtful against Charlotte.<\/p>\n<p>Barnes didn&#8217;t travel with the team to Charlotte, tweeted <a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MarcJSpears\/status\/1851335495428817098\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marc J. Spears of ESPN<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Raptors say Scottie Barnes will not travel to Charlotte and will remain in Toronto to continue medical assessments after taking an elbow to the right eye in the fourth quarter of Monday\u2019s loss to Denver.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>NBA Injury Updates: Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley, Ben Simmons, Kyle Kuzma, Devin Vassell, and Luke Kennard<\/h2>\n<p>Barnes is off to an uneven start. The 23-year-old, who made his first all-star appearance last year, has one double and is averaging 19 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.0 assists. He has topped the 20-point mark three times. However, he has struggled shooting the ball at 46\/18.2\/73.9.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/27\/toronto-raptors-rookie-report-week-1\/\" target=\"_self\">Toronto<\/a> is pretty small, especially with Olynyk out. However, veteran <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bouchch01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Boucher<\/a> appears to be the logical choice to start at power forward, although the 31-year-old has only started 23 games over his career. It is possible that <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/coaches\/rajakda01c.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Darko Rajakovic<\/a> decides to go with<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/agbajoc01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Ochai Agbaji<\/a>, forcing Barrett to man the four.<\/p>\n<p>The Raptors provided an update to Barnes injury. The 6-7 forward will miss at least the next three weeks with a right orbital fracture. According to the Raptors press release, Barnes sustained the injury after taking a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jokicni01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-10-30_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nikola Jokic<\/a> elbow to the face late in Monday\u2019s <a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TedBuddy8\/status\/1851081443377881184\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">overtime loss<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The three weeks that the Raptors mentioned are to the point where Barnes will be re-evaluated, meaning he could be out longer. If Barnes only misses three weeks, he will miss the Raptors&#8217; next 11 games, according to TSN.ca <a  href=\"http:\/\/With this timeline, Barnes will miss at least 11 games. 9 of those 11 games come against teams that made the postseason last year, 7 of them come on the road. If he does sit out again, Davion Mitchell is in line to start his fourth straight game. Mitchell has had an uneven start to the season, averaging 8.0 points, 5.0 assists and 3.0 turnovers.<\/p>\n<h3>Ben Simmons Returns While Nic Claxton Sits Out For Nets<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/29\/brooklyn-nets-exercise-third-year-options-on-a-pair-youngsters-and-what-it-means-going-forward\/\" target=\"_self\">Brooklyn Nets<\/a> will get one player as <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/simmobe01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ben Simmons<\/a> returns from a one-game injury maintenance absence while losing another for their game at Memphis tonight. Center <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/claxtni01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nic Claxton<\/a>, who is still ramping up his conditioning after missing the entire preseason with a hamstring injury, will sit out Wednesday\u2019s game as the Nets\u00a0are playing the second end of back-to-backs.<\/p>\n<p>Brooklyn head coach<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/coaches\/fernajo99c.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Jordi Fernandez<\/a> told <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/10\/30\/sports\/nets-will-be-without-nic-claxton-when-they-play-grizzlies-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ted Holmund of The New York Post<\/a> that Claxton didn&#8217;t experience any setbacks, so the 6-11 center is sitting out due to injury maintenance.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s basically part of the return to play with his minutes, back-to-back, being cautious with his body and this was part of the plan.<\/em> <em>So he did a great job. He played those, those extra minutes at 26 (on Tuesday vs. Denver). Right now, we need a good rest and recovery, and then we\u2019ll take the next step. So again, very, very happy with him.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Claxton has come off the bench in the Nets first four games. However, the 25-year-old has seen his minutes slowly increase with each appearance. He has compiled a double-double in his last two contests, totaling a season-high 16 points and 12 boards against\u00a0 Denver last night.<\/p>\n<p>With Simmons (lower back maintenance) sitting out last night, Fernandez inserted <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/clownno01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Noah Clowney<\/a> in the starting lineup at center.\u00a0 Clowney only saw 16 minutes against the Nuggets, as Claxton saw most of the time at center. Simmons, averaging a modest 5.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game, likely will replace Clowney in the starting unit.<\/p>\n<h3>More Injury Notes<\/h3>\n<p><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/health\/other\/jaylin-williams-suffers-setback-with-hamstring-strain-to-be-re-evaluated-in-4-6-weeks\/ar-AA1te0lt?ocid=BingNewsSerp\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oklahoma City announced<\/a> that <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/willija07.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jaylin Williams<\/a> irritated his strained right hamstring during a workout on Tuesday. Williams, who hasn&#8217;t played this season, will have his condition reevaluated in four to six weeks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/11\/chicago-bulls-still-discussing-monumental-honor-for-derrick-rose\/\" target=\"_self\">Chicago Bulls<\/a> point guard <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/balllo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lonzo Ball<\/a> is out for at least a week with a right wrist sprain that suffered the injury during the first quarter against Memphis on Monday. A a result of Hunter&#8217;s absence, rookie <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/risacza01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zaccharie Risacher<\/a> will make his<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/30\/two-more-atlanta-hawks-ruled-out-due-to-injuries-for-how-long-and-who-will-replace-them-in-rotation-plus-injury-updates-to-bogdan-bogdanovic-deandre-hunter-and-kobe-bufkin\/\" target=\"_self\"> third straight start<\/a> while <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/roddyda01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Roddy<\/a> will make his first start against the Wizards.<\/p>\n<h4>More Injury News<\/h4>\n<p>According to the team, Washington Wizards forward <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kuzmaky01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyle Kuzma<\/a> sustained a right groin strain in Monday\u2019s game against Atlanta and will miss at least tonight&#8217;s rematch against the Hawks. This will be the 29-year-old forward&#8217;s first absence of the season. Kuzma has gotten off to a slow start shooting the ball, making just 32.7% of his field goal attempts and 27.8% of his threes.<\/p>\n<p>It is unknown whether Kuzma will miss more than one game. With Kuzma out, 2024 first-round pick <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/georgky01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyshawn George<\/a> will make his first start of the campaign.
