The UConn exhibition on Monday has the two-time defending national champion UConn men’s basketball team <\/span>hitting the court<\/span><\/a> at Mohegan Sun Arena. Thanks to getting a waiver from the NCAA, fans will be able to see the Huskies in action. The inaugural Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement Game is at 6 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena. Rhode Island will be the opponent. UConn and URI used to play regularly before the Huskies joined the Big East.<\/span><\/p>\n

Creighton, Providence, Xavier, and St. John’s are other Big East teams that play Division I opponents with spectators allowed into the arena. <\/span>St. John’s will play<\/span><\/a> at Rutgers on Thursday. Xavier meets Dayton<\/a> on Oct. 20. <\/span>Creighton will play<\/span><\/a> 2024 national finalist Purdue on Oct. 26. On the same day, Providence faces UMass<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Four starters from last season’s title-winning team for UConn were selected in the 2024 Draft. <\/span>Alex Karaban<\/span><\/a> is the only returning starter for the two-time defending champions.<\/span><\/p>\n

“You want to go out and play well, you want to win, and you want to compete and play hard,” UConn coach <\/span>Dan Hurley<\/span><\/a> said<\/a> in a conference call with the media on Sunday. “We are not going to look like we did the last time people saw us play. We are a work in progress right now. I think it is exciting right now to get an opportunity to go out and play against somebody else.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

UConn Exhibition Could See New Faces Emerge<\/b><\/h2>\n

Karaban is the only current UConn player expected to play a similar role. He averaged 13.3 points per game last season. When looking ahead, plenty of eyes will be on promising freshman <\/span>Liam McNeeley<\/span><\/a> and Saint Mary’s transfer <\/span>Aidan Mahaney<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
