Furthermore, they had the franchise&#8217;s highest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/teams\/ORL\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">win total<\/a> since the 2010-2011 season. The Magic\u2019s success last season was founded on defense, they were the third-ranked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/stats\/teams\/defense?SeasonType=Regular%20Season&amp;dir=A&amp;sort=DEF_RATING\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">defense<\/a> in the NBA, and it got them to a Game 7 in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Their lack of experience showed as they blew an 18-point lead in that game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the offensive end, the Magic are led by the rising star of <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/banchpa01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paolo Banchero<\/a>. In his sophomore season, Banchero averaged 22.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists last season. Banchero and Wagner will continue to be the key pieces for the Magic moving forward, but the rest of the squad is also improving and ready to win.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Offseason Moves<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Magic\u2019s main offseason move was signing veteran guard <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/caldwke01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kentavious Caldwell-Pope<\/a> to a three-year, $66-million contract. KCP was an essential piece with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/04\/2024-25-nba-betting-preview-denver-nuggets-win-total-odds\/\" target=\"_self\">Denver Nuggets<\/a> in their 2022-23 NBA championship run.
