In another bold move, the Golden State Warriors are expected to sign JaMychal Green after a contract buyout with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Golden State Warriors Expect to Sign JaMychal Green

NBA teams are scrambling to fortify their teams with exciting additions via trade or draft picks. Meanwhile, the Warriors had Juan Toscano-Anderson, Gary Payton II, Otto Porter Jr., and Nemanja Bjelica go their separate ways. First off, Toscano-Anderson is now with the Los Angeles Lakers after spending three years with the Dubs.

Secondly, Payton signed a three-year, $28 million contract with the Portland Trail Blazers. Thirdly,  Porter Jr. inked a $12.4 million contract with the Toronto Raptors. And lastly, Bjelica went overseas for a $4 million contract with a team in Turkey. They ended their stay with the Golden State Warriors on a note by winning a championship.

On June 23, 2022, The Denver Nuggets traded Green, with a 2027 protected first-round pick, to the Thunder. In return, the Nuggets will receive the draft rights to Peyton Watson and a couple of future second-round picks. On July 20, 2022, Green was waived by the Thunder.

The Warriors are expected to sign Green after a contract buy out hoping to defend their title with what the 32-year-old former Alabama Crimson Tide power forward will bring to the team.

What JaMychal Green Brings

Green’s 2021-2022 season was not that impressive. In fact, he was only averaging 6.4 PPG and 4.2 rebounds per game on .486/.266/.871 shooting in 67 games (16.2 MPG) for the Nuggets. On the other hand, Green proved his efficiency stretched over four years. At the onset of last season, he drained 38.0% of his three-point attempts in his first seven NBA seasons.

Green will provide depth for the Dubs at power forward behind PF Draymond Green and SF Jonathan Kuminga.

The Golden State Warriors are in Good Shape for the Next Season

The Warriors will be facing reinforced teams in the coming months. Expect resurgences of NBA superstars in PF Zion Williamson, SF Kawhi Leonard, PG Jamal Murray, and SF Ben Simmons among other greats in the league.

Golden State had some fortifications of their own to back up the team’s core. Given that competition is stiffer in the preseason, exciting additions to the roster are in place to face the battle ahead.

The Big Three of the Dubs, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Green, are still intact. They are essentially the big brothers and are ready to run it back. In addition, there is a youthful group of guys eager for their first and second years in the league. To sum it up, the Warriors appear to be in good shape for next season.
