On Tuesday, J.B. Bickerstaff signed a multi-year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Chris Fedor, an NBA reporter, and Sports Producer for Advance Ohio tweeted the news:

J.B. Bickerstaff takes over a Cleveland Cavaliers team that is currently second-worst in the NBA. They currently have a record of 19 wins and 46 losses. There were reports like the one by Tyler Carey of wkyc studios that Cavaliers players were frustrated with previous head coach John Beilein.

J.B. Bickerstaff – The New Head Coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers

Bickerstaff has been the assistant coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers since 2019. His most recent head coaching job was with the Memphis Grizzlies for two seasons. His biggest accomplishment was making the playoffs with the Houston Rockets as the interim head coach in the 2015-16 season. They lost to eventual Western Conference champions, the Golden State Warriors in five games.

The bright side with Bickerstaff is that the Cleveland Cavaliers are familiar with his coaching style. It will be easier for the players to settle in with Bickerstaff and know what their roles are. There are many promising players on the roster like Collin Sexton and Kevin Porter Jr. and they also have former NBA All-Stars like Kevin Love and Andre Drummond on the Cavaliers roster. Lastly, they may not make the NBA playoffs, but will probably get a high-draft pick this year and pick up a quality player.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have started their six-game road trip with a loss to the Chicago Bulls. The next two road games are against the Charlotte Hornets on March 13th and the Atlanta Hawks on March 14th. Then on March 17th, they will start facing tougher opponents on the road. These include playoff opponents like the Houston Rockets on March 17th, the Orlando Magic on March 19th, and the Indiana Pacers on March 21st.
