Ben Simmons Injury

The Philadelphia 76ers head into Salt Lake City feeling pretty good about their team. They have been playing great basketball. As a result, they have a 5-1 record and find themselves at the top of the Eastern Conference standings. In addition, their star Joel Embiid was back in action tonight after serving his two-game suspension. Health has been in the 76ers’ favor.

Ben Simmons Suffers Should Injury

The 76ers dynamic point guard Ben Simmons suffered an injury. He headed to the locker room during the second quarter against the Utah Jazz. Simmons averages 15 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds per game. He only had two points in ten minutes against the Jazz.

A closer look at the play itself seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary had happened. He was in the high post and received an entry pass. Then he used a spin move down low and used his right shoulder to back down his defender.

Keith Pompey reported that “After the contact, Simmons held his shoulder and tried to shake it off. He wore what looked like a heating pad on it while on the bench after checking out late in the quarter.”

Simmons would try to play through this discomfort. With seven minutes left in the half, he checked back into the game. But ultimately could not continue to play with the discomfort.  Simmons checked himself back out and was seen going back to the locker room with trainers and medical staff. After treatment, during half time, it was reported that he would not return to the game.

That’s a bad break for the Philadelphia 76ers. In addition that is a significant blow to the 76ers offense. In the third quarter of this game, further details were reported.

The 76ers ultimately hung around in the game with the Utah Jazz. However, the Utah Jazz did enough to win the game by two 106-104.
