Draymond Green Signs Extension

Draymond Green signs contract extension

ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski revealed that Draymond Green would sign an extension with the Golden State Warriors. The all-around forward has spent the entirety of his eight-year career with the Warriors. The Warriors selected Green in the second round of the 2012 NBA draft at 35th overall. Draymond Green has also been a pivotal contributor for the Warriors in winning three NBA championships in the past five seasons.

Draymond Green Signs Contract Extension for Four Years Worth $100 Million

Green is finishing up the five-year, $82 million contract he signed in 2015. There were reports this past season that Green and former teammate Kevin Durant allegedly were at odds with one another. When the 2019 offseason started, Kevin Durant decided to leave the Golden State Warriors and signed a four year, $164 million contract with the Brooklyn Nets. Green decided to pick up his player option for the final year of his contract at around $18.5 million for the 2019 season.

The new extension will begin in the 2020-2021 season and will start at a base salary of over $22 million for 2020. The contract will have a gradual monetary raise through the 2023-2024 season and will earn Green over $27 million in the last year of his deal. Teammate Stephen Curry signed a five-year supermax contract worth over $200 million that started in the 2017-2018 season. Klay Thompson also signed an extension this summer worth $189 million that will allow him to wear a Warriors uniform through the 2023-2024 season. The Warriors have made moves this summer by keeping the core to one of the greatest teams of all time.

Draymond Green is turning 30 years old before the start of his new contract. Some analysts have said that Green has been on the decline and is on the downside of his career. The Warriors show a difference of opinion from what the general audience thinks. The science says that many professional basketball players start to decline in production at the age of 30. NBA fans will find out what that science says about Draymond Green starting in 2020.
