Report: Atlanta Hawks Agree to Trade Dwight Howard to Charlotte Hornets

Howard just completed his first and only year as a member of the Hawks, averaging 13.5 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks during the 2016-17 season. He is a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, eight-time All-Star, and the No. 1 overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. This will be Howard’s fifth team in seven seasons. Howard still has two years left on his current contract, worth almost $24 million per year.

For the Hawks, they clear cap space as they look to start rebuilding under new general manager Travis Schlenk. Plumlee joins the team following just 13 games as a member of the Hornets. For his career, he is averaging 5.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in just under 17 minutes per game. He still has three years left on his contract, which pays him $12.5 million per year. Bellinelli is in the final year of his deal, which is worth $6.6 million annually.
