Hernandez was perhaps the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/11\/13\/teoscar-hernandez-landing-spots-2025\/\" target=\"_self\">most coveted power-hitting <\/a>outfielder on the free agent market, aside from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=sotoju01,soto--004jua&amp;search=Juan+Soto&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-12-05_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Juan Soto<\/a>. \u00a0In 2024 with the Dodgers, he hit a career-high 33 home runs. He also hit close to .280 with runners in scoring position this year. That ability should not be overlooked in the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/10\/31\/dodgers-win-2024-world-series\/\" target=\"_self\">World Series victory<\/a> run for Los Angeles. He opted to take a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The charismatic outfielder quickly became a favorite of his teammates and felt right at home. The free-swinging power-hitter prone to the strikeout began to be more patient at the plate and saw free passes more often.<\/p>\n<h4>&#8220;Mr Clutch&#8221;<\/h4>\n<p>His penchant for hitting in the clutch was sorely needed by Dodgers, who seemed to struggle with that ability in the past. No matter how many &#8220;super stars&#8221; they had. This year, hitting in crucial situations was essential. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bettsmo01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-12-05_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mookie Betts<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/f\/freemfr01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-12-05_br\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Freddie Freeman, and Max Muncy all missed significant playing time due to<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/07\/09\/dodgers-injury-updates-all-star-break\/\" target=\"_self\">\u00a0injuries<\/a>. Hernandez happily picked up the slack. He had several crucial hits in the Division Series against the San Diego Padres.
