However, Snell was only signed for <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/09\/25\/blake-snell-potential-free-agency\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">one year<\/a>, while Soler <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/07\/30\/braves-trade-soler-jackson-giants\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">departed at the trade deadline<\/a> to rejoin the Atlanta Braves. Chapman, though, signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/09\/05\/matt-chapman-contract-extension\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">six-year, $151 million contract extension<\/a> on September 4. Posey reportedly spearheaded talks with the four-time Gold Glove Award winner, per <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/5770168\/2024\/09\/15\/sf-giants-matt-chapman-buster-posey-negotiations\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>The Athletic<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Before being hired by the Giants, Zaidi worked for the Oakland Athletics and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations, where he served as an assistant general manager and general manager, respectively. The 47-year-old concludes his time in the Bay Area with an overall club record of 453-417 (.521 winning percentage).<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Posey, a three-time World Series-winning catcher with the Giants in 2010, 2012, and 2014, retired following the 2021 season. He joined the club&#8217;s 30-member ownership group and has served on its board of directors since September 2022. The 37-year-old will now assume a much more critical role for the only organization he&#8217;s ever known.<\/p>\n<p>During his impressive 12-year career, Posey, who was named the 2012 NL MVP, earned seven All-Star selections, was honored as the 2010 NL Rookie of the Year, received five Silver Slugger Awards, won a Gold Glove, and clinched a batting title.
