T<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he Marlins acquired Stowers when they <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/07\/30\/trevor-rogers-trade\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">traded left-handed pitcher<\/a> <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/rogertr01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trevor Rogers<\/a>\u00a0to the Baltimore Orioles and got Stowers and infielder <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/08\/18\/marlins-call-up-connor-norby\/\" target=\"_self\">Connor Norby<\/a>. Stowers immediately joined the big league club once he was acquired.\u00a0 In his first game with the team, he went 0-3 and struck out twice. This was a disappointing start to his season. He made his major league debut in 2022 but only had <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">168 plate appearances and batted .229\/.274\/.369 with the Orioles<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The lefty was in and out of the minors for the entirety of his time in Baltimore, and in Triple-A Norfolk, he has a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">career .253\/.351\/.519 batting line with 57 home runs in 1,047 plate appearances. Stowers struggled to find his place in Baltimore, so the move to Miami was seen as a fresh start for the 26-year-old.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once he arrived in Miami, he struggled during the first few weeks of being with the team. Stowers started his Marlins career with a humbling <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a05-for-52 (.096), no extra-base hits, zero RBI, three walks, and 23 strikeouts through 16 games. In his last ten-game stretch which coincides with the call-up of Norby, Stowers has been hitting 12-31. He has a five-game hit streak where he has gone 9-for-20 (.450) with two doubles, one triple, one homer, six RBIs, one walk and seven strikeouts. He has had his best series against the Colorado Rockies this past week. His standout performance occurred Thursday in the Marlins&#8217; 12-8 victory. In this game, he collected three hits, including a double, and drove in four RBI<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Behind 18 (!) hits from their offense, the Marlins secure a series split in Colorado with a 12-8 win in the finale. Hopefully, his successes will persist, and he can be a major part of the future of the Marlins franchise.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Manager Skip Schumaker Praises Outfielder<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><em>MLB.com&#8217;s<\/em> Christina De Nicola reports that the Marlins manager, Skip Schumaker, is optimistic about Stowers&#8217; future with the Marlins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt&#8217;s going to be one of those chess matches every single day. That&#8217;s how you survive in this league. I&#8217;m really proud of him, of how he&#8217;s adjusted. But you&#8217;re right. New manager, new coaching staff, new hitting staff, new team, meeting new people every single day. I think that definitely changes things.
