They are displaying arguably the best lineup in baseball and one of the best-performing pitching staffs in the league. The team is executing on each end of the field to add numbers to the win column.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What goes up must come down. Naturally, the heat of this Yankees offense may simmer, along with other semi-struggling parts. This is where possible trade options come into play.\u00a0 New York may have pieces they\u2019re willing to part ways with at the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/06\/10\/yankees-trade-deadline-approach\/\" target=\"_self\">trade deadline<\/a>, even if that means sacrificing the future talent for Ring 28.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Possible Trade Options: Roderick Arias\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Yankees need to consider retention, payroll, and control. Various names are up for arbitration after the season, and there will be plenty of bills to fit. The shortstop position currently stands occupied, as New York employs Anthony Volpe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Volpe is eligible for arbitration in 2026 and is listed as a free agent in 2029. What does this mean? The next guy up, Roderick Arias, may not be in demand at the moment, making him one of various possible trade options.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arias may be the most valuable trade piece if push comes to shove. Given Arias&#8217;s high value, a trade return would probably send a big name such as Pete Alonso.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although this is not practicable as Anthony Rizzo occupies first base, Rizzo has been struggling lately, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/06\/11\/mets-luis-severino-trade-rumors\/\" target=\"_self\">Mets<\/a> most likely will be sellers. Alonso could be a corner infield addition to provide that extra offensive piece.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Possible Trade Options: RHP Zach Messinger\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any organization&#8217;s baseball development prides itself on producing arms with longevity. It\u2019s tough to see the Yankees dealing with any of their top pitching prospects; however, it takes money to make money.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 21st-ranked Yankees prospect is a name thrown around and mentioned enthusiastically by major platforms. Right-hander Zach Messinger would fit the description in a list of possible trade options.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 6\u20196\u201d righty was selected in the 13th round of the 2021 MLB draft from the University of Virginia. As a development prodigy, the club is impressed with the outcome of this selection, and their gamble in the 13th round may be a long-term win.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Messinger is 24 years of age and offers a four-pitch mix with a refined fastball commanding well at 94 mph max. He\u2019s projectable with pitch-ability and a trustworthy put-away option in his slider.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Messinger has pitched 64.1 innings in AA-Somerset with a 3.50 ERA, 74 strikeouts, and 20 walks. This arm could be a key piece or a fraction of a deal towards club improvements for New York.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Possible Trade Option: LHP Henry Lalane<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another low-key arm on the come-up is a multi-sport southpaw who signed for a thick signing bonus in the international period 2021. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/prospects\/yankees\/henry-lalane-700649\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Henry Lalane<\/a> projects quickly and forward. His makeup, attributes, and abilities scream promotion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In three seasons of pro ball, he holds a 3.56 ERA with a 5-6 record and a 5.25 RA9.
