{"id":75271,"date":"2024-05-31T19:07:53","date_gmt":"2024-05-31T23:07:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/?p=75271"},"modified":"2024-05-31T19:07:53","modified_gmt":"2024-05-31T23:07:53","slug":"brewers-rhys-hoskins-il-mlb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/05\/31\/brewers-rhys-hoskins-il-mlb\/","title":{"rendered":"Brewers Rhys Hoskins Set To Return From IL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There hasn&#8217;t been a lot of good news for the Milwaukee Brewers when it comes to injuries this season.<\/p>\n<p>Friday, though, was a different story as first baseman Rhys Hoskins was set to come off the injured list and return to the starting lineup for the Brewers series-opener against the Chicago White Sox at American Family Field.<\/p>\n<h2>Brewers Rhys Hoskins Set To Return From IL<\/h2>\n<p>Hoskins has been out since May 14 when he<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/05\/14\/rhys-hoskins-hamstring-injury-brewers-loss\/\" target=\"_self\"> strained his left hamstring running to first<\/a> in the second inning of an 8-6 loss to the Pirates. He was expected to miss 2-4 weeks and not only returned on the short end of that estimate, was able to do so without having to go out on a minor-league rehab assignment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Rhys Hoskins is back, says manager Pat Murphy. \u201cI\u2019m happy for him. It\u2019s not just because the experience and the ability, it\u2019s just who he is. I\u2019m happy for him. He was miserable not contributing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hoskins was just starting to find his groove at the time of the injury. He went into that game batting .233 with nine homers, 27 RBI, and an .814 OPS and had homered three times in his previous five games, including a three-run, seventh-inning blast on May 11 that gave Milwaukee a 5-3 comeback victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Obviously, it helps us (getting Hoskins back),&#8221; Murphy said. &#8220;It\u2019s another right-handed bat, a power bat and he\u2019s a good at-bat. It\u2019s not a hit-or-miss type of thing, he puts together a quality at-bat and the league knows it. He spent his first six seasons in Philadelphia before missing all of 2023 after suffering an ACL injury during Spring Training. With the Phillies opting to move Bryce Harper to first base, Hoskins became a free agent and ultimately signed a two-year, $34 million contract a few weeks before camp opened.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I thought he (would be) a great addition,&#8221; Murphy said. &#8220;I didn\u2019t know how great, but it\u2019s been even better than I thought.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I love having him around. I love having him around the guys and how he competes.
