We are a quarter of the way through the 2024 MLB season.\u00a0<\/span>The term “small sample size” is\u00a0<\/span>being used less to make up<\/span>\u00a0for players’ shortcomings.<\/span>\u00a0It is a tough pill to swallow\u00a0<\/span>but<\/span>\u00a0some superstars are falling short of expectations\u00a0<\/span>i.e.<\/span>\u00a0Francisco Lindor<\/a>, Corbin Carroll<\/a>, Jackson\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Holliday;<\/span>\u00a0the list goes on. With every player having a down season\u00a0<\/span>though<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>there are players exceeding<\/span> expectations.\u00a0 So is it time to start calling Chris Sale an ace again?<\/span><\/p>\n

Where Does 2024 Rank For This Former Ace?<\/h2>\n

There were mixed emotions when\u00a0<\/span>it was announced<\/span>\u00a0that Chris Sale<\/a> was headed to the Atlanta Braves<\/a> this offseason. The Boston Red Sox sent the former all-star and Cy Young<\/a> candidate to the Braves for cash considerations and infield\u00a0<\/span>prospect,<\/span>\u00a0Vaughn Grissom<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>While many Boston fans were sad to see a\u00a0<\/span>member of their<\/span> 2018 World Series championship team and former ace leave, most were glad to be rid of the injury-prone LHP.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>On the flip side<\/span>, Braves fans felt like they were getting a dead arm and losing a homegrown prospect in Vaughn. Regardless of how fans\u00a0<\/span>feel<\/span>\u00a0about players, MLB is a business\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0this was a business move.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>This<\/span>\u00a0was a low-risk\/high reward for the Braves.\u00a0 There was no room for Vaughn to play and progress\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0the Red Sox\u00a0<\/span>were going to<\/span>\u00a0pay the Braves to take\u00a0<\/span>Sale.<\/span><\/p>\n
