T<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he White Sox dropped Thursday\u2019s series finale to the Minnesota Twins after taking a two-run lead in the sixth inning. This marked Chicago\u2019s seventh consecutive loss, dropping the White Sox to 3-22 on the young season. Entering Thursday\u2019s games, every other team in baseball had at least six wins, with all but five teams having at least 10.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Off to the worst start in franchise history, the White Sox have been outscored 141-56 and allowed 38 home runs. The White Sox are the fourth team in baseball history to lose 22 of their first 25 games. Chicago joins Cincinnati (2022) and Detroit (2003) as the only teams in MLB history to open a season 3-22. Only the Baltimore Orioles in 1988 had a worse record through the first 25 games of the season (2-23). This is the second time a team has opened the season 3-22 in three years. All three teams lost at least 100 games in their respective seasons.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Chicago White Sox Make History With Miserable Start<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two years removed from a divisional title and back-to-back postseason appearances, the White Sox went 61-101 in 2023. Chicago is rebuilding, which is evident when <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/03\/13\/dylan-cease-padres-white-sox-trade\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dylan Cease was traded to the Padres<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for San Diego\u2019s top prospects. Chicago hired longtime Royals coach <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/managers\/grifope99.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pedro Grifol<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as their manager following the departure of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/l\/larusto01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tony La Russa<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Grifol boasts a 64-123 managerial record in his second season as a big-league manager.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe are all in this thing together, and we are all trying to get out of this and start moving in the direction we feel like we are going to be,\u201d Grifol said. \u201cThere are some things that have to get done, and we must continue to stay true to the process.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the White Sox to avoid a dreaded 100-loss season, Chicago must go 60-77 in their final 137 games. That\u2019s a 71-win pace for a team with only three wins four weeks into the season.
