He earned his second home run of Spring Training against the New York Yankees on March 8th. The Blue Jays signed Vogelbach to a one-year $2 million contract with the Toronto Blue Jays, including a $2,000,000 guaranteed and an annual average salary of $2,000,000. Along with Vogelbach’s two home runs, he also has 3 RBIs and four hits in Spring Training this season. Ernie Clement has a .357 batting average and an OPS of .900 in 14 at-bats. He has recorded five hits, one RBI, and a stolen base in Spring Training.

Daniel Vogelbach with his 2nd HR of the spring:

104.8 mph & 374 feet 💣

Danny Burgers 🍔 ranks in the 100th percentile in hitting absolute nukes. #BlueJays pic.twitter.com/YqDWimwwES

— Thomas Hall (@Hall_Thomas_) March 8, 2024

Also, Ernie Clement has experience playing in the majors, as he got playing time last season with the Blue Jays. He recorded one home run and 10 RBI, one stolen base, seven home runs, and a .380 batting average in 50 plate appearances last season. He deserves more playing time this season, as he played well as a rookie for the Blue Jays last season. Clement, Davis Schneider, and Daniel Horowitz were other rookies who played well last season for the Blue Jays. These players shouldn’t go unnoticed when deciding who should be on the Blue Jays roster. As well as the opening-day roster.

Vogelbach crushed a two-run home run against Cy Young Winner Gerrit Cole on March 1st, which was impressive for the 31-year-old lefty designated hitter. He also has experience as a first baseman. Vogelbach served as the Mets’ primary designated hitter for most of the 2023 season. He recorded 13 home runs, 48 RBI, and a .233/.339/.404 batting line in 104 games. He is also known to be a liability against left-handed pitching. Having Vogelbach and Joey Votto would be great players on the bench for the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays signed Joey Votto on Friday, March 8th. Fans on social media are welcoming Votto home to the Blue Jays and are happy about this signing. Having Votto in a Blue Jays uniform is something fans will enjoy witnessing at games.

It is evident that Votto wants to play and thinks he can still come out with a bang. He believes his surgically repaired shoulder is healthy enough to contribute to his hometown team. Votto will report to camp on Saturday, March 9th. He mentioned how he expects to start the season in the minors and then earn his way onto the big-league roster. Votto also accepts that this is like a tryout for him.

https://twitter.com/mitchel_susan/status/1766174982667636747

Clement and Vogelbach

https://twitter.com/RedPilledFan/status/1763713290960580743

Congratulations to Clement for making a solid bid to earn a spot on the Blue Jays roster and to Vogelbach for playing well in Spring Training. Let’s see if he can continue to produce for the Blue Jays for the remainder of Spring Training. Both Clement and Vogelbach deserve significant playing time in the 2024 season. Vogelbach, Clement, and Nathan Lukes are all players making cases to be on the team. Lukes has a 1.303 Spring Training OPS since March 8th. The Blue Jays have several options that they can turn to. Everyone knows that the Blue Jays have young, solid prospects and rookies who want a chance to play more in the big leagues.

Votto says he expects to start the season in AAA so the Jays likely still have 3 spots up for grabs on the position player side for Opening Day and many candidates (Espinal, Schneider, Clement, Lukes, Vogelbach, Horwitz, Escobar, Barger, etc).https://t.co/94VYTlHILK https://t.co/oNOv9EeQ0A pic.twitter.com/MOzlzyYdt3

— Jason R.R.
