Among those eager to see the AL East champs take on their divisional rival was the soon-to-be new owner of the Baltimore Orioles, David Rubenstein.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Orioles New Owner Rubenstein Attends Spring Training<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In January, news broke that the Angelos family had agreed to sell a majority stake in the franchise. The deal valued the Orioles franchise at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/2024\/01\/30\/orioles-sale-new-era-baltimore\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">$1.725 billion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Baltimore native David Rubenstein will become the Orioles\u2019 new control person and decision-maker once MLB approves the sale. The group would also take over the Angelos\u2019 stake in Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN). The sale must be approved by 75 percent of the Major League Baseball owners to become official.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rubenstein was in attendance with Orioles chief executive John Angelos. He was seen having breakfast at a Sarasota hotel with Angelos, manager Brandon Hyde, and general manager Mike Elias. Rubenstein walked to the concourse and greeted fans late in Saturday\u2019s win over the Yankees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Orioles were quiet in the early innings with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/stromma01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marcus Stroman<\/a> pitching but broke out against the Yankees\u2019 relievers. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/haysau01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Austin Hays<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/stoweky01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyle Stowers<\/a> both homered, taking yet another lefty deep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mountry01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Mountcastle<\/a> drove in two more runs with a two-run double in the sixth. The Orioles held the Yankees scoreless before giving up three runs in the ninth in their 7-3 victory. The Orioles improved to 8-1 in their spring games with yesterday&#8217;s win.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Spring Training games don\u2019t mean much once the regular season begins, the Orioles have been on a roll.
