While the club hasn&#8217;t confirmed that a deal is in place, the pervasive rumor is that the contract is set up for five years, and is worth a total of $70 million. His batting line reads .341\/.391\/.462, with four home runs and seven stolen bases through 43 games this season with the Mariners. He hit .319 in 153 games last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks, and launched 20 home runs while driving in 64 runs. Along with Segura, pitcher <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/curtiza01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zac Curtis<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and outfielder <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hanigmi01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mitch Haniger<\/a><\/strong> were traded to the Mariners back in November for starting pitcher\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/w\/walketa01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taijuan Walker<\/a><\/strong> and infielder <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/marteke01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ketel Marte<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The extension will cover what would have been several years of free agency eligibility, as the Mariners are hoping to lock up their infielders since <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/seageky01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyle Seager<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/canoro01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Robinson Cano<\/a><\/strong> are also on long-term contracts. Segura had previously played almost exclusively in the National League, except for one at-bat with the Los Angeles Angels back in 2012. He was then traded to the Milwaukee Brewers, with whom he played until 2016 when he was acquired by Arizona.
