Merril Kelly gave us a run for our money in yesterday’s first play. By the close of the first half of the first frame, he had thrown over 40 pitches, given up two runs, and only collected one punch-out. Somehow, someway, Kelly caught fire in the next four innings. Striking out five of the remaining 16 batters he faced, he only used 50 pitches to do so\u2014a herculean effort from the wily vet. Our second main play of the day was much more stress-free. As predicted, the\u00a0<\/span>Baltimore Orioles<\/span><\/a>\u00a0offense was too much for Luis Severino to handle. Tacking on seven runs in the first inning alone and cruising to a 9-3 first-five victory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each of these three games blew past the run total set for them, which was much of the offense coming in the first half. The Braves put up five, nine, and six runs on their own in the first half of their past three games. I like this trend to continue against Griffin Canning and the\u00a0<\/span>Los Angeles Angels<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
