As such, the Giants needed to open roster space to bring in someone who can take the field. The Giants did not retroactive the assignment to the DL. They opted to give their rightfielder a full 10-days rest to heal the niggling hamstring.<\/p>\n Pence has slashed .243\/.289\/.338\/.627 through 37 games. These numbers are down across the board from last season. In fact, they are the lowest of his 11 years of playing in the major leagues.
