The day has finally come, our first negative day of the Best Bets series. I am certain there will be many more days like this in the second half of the season, but getting the first one out of the way is always good. With that being said, let’s take a look at how things went down.<\/p>\n
In our first play of the day, Patrick Corbin came out pitching like a man possessed. Striking out his first three batters faced. He then carried this form into the second and third inning, striking out five of his first eight. If I can provide two silver linings, it is that first, we didn’t have to wait around to sweat this one out, and second, Adolis Garc\u00eda drove in two runs on the day.<\/p>\n
In our second play of the day, things went perfectly. Logan Webb pitched an absolute gem in this one. Pitching all nine innings, allowing zero runs and collecting ten strikeouts on the day. The bats behind him didn’t perform as well as anticipated, but J.D. Davis got the job done with a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth.<\/p>\n
