On Saturday, the Chicago Cubs<\/strong> designated utility outfielder and pinch-hitter Matt Szczur<\/a><\/strong> for assignment. Unfortunately, this was to make room on the roster for a relief pitcher. The Cubs reported that they have traded Szczur to the San Diego Padres<\/strong> for right-handed pitcher Justin Hancock<\/a><\/strong>. Chicago also selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Dylan Floro<\/a><\/strong> from the Triple-A Iowa Cubs<\/strong>. To make room for Floro, the Cubs sent outfielder Jason Heyward<\/a><\/strong> to the 10-day DL, retroactive to May 6.<\/p>\n Justin Hancock has spent 2017 with the Double-A San Antonio Missions.<\/strong> He has 10 appearances in relief with 13 total innings pitched. Owning an ERA of 6.23, and a WHIP of 1.846, Hancock has given up nine earned runs this year.
