Tyler Glasnow is scheduled to rejoin the Tampa Bay Rays<\/a> on Wednesday night against the Cleveland Guardians<\/a>. The right-hander hasn’t pitched this season after having Tommy John surgery in August 2021. The Rays’ Opening Day starter in 2021 was 5-2 with a 2.66 ERA in 14 starts. Glasnow will be a key addition as Tampa Bay fight for a Wild Card spot. Additionally, manager Kevin Cash said Glasnow will throw about 45 pitches in his outing, allowing him to throw two to three innings.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old is a top-end starter who throws many high velocity pitches. In 48 appearances with the Rays, Glasnow owns a 3.10 ERA with a 134 ERA+. He also owns a 4.32 strikeout-to-walk ratio over the 261 innings he’s pitched in his career. With Triple-A Durham, Glasnow threw 14 strikeouts over seven innings in four starts, allowing one run, one hit and four walks. In addition, Glasnow signed a two-year, $30.35 million contract last month. He’s making $5.1 million this season, then will earn $5.35 next season, then $25 million in 2024.<\/p>\n
