Max Kepler and Miguel San\u00f3 are on the 10-day injured list. It’s a big setback for the AL Central-leading\u00a0<\/span>Minnesota Twins<\/span><\/a>, who hope to make the playoffs. San\u00f3, coming off an injury, is heading back on the shelf due to an inflammation in his left knee. He has already missed 75 games with a torn meniscus in the same knee. The 29-year-old has only appeared in 20 games this season, hitting .083\/.211\/.133 with one home run and 25 strikeouts. San\u00f3 went 0-for-6 in his first three games back.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for Kepler’s placement on the injured list, it’s retroactive to July 27. Kepler will miss time due to a fracture in his right toe. He sustained the injury on July 24 against the Detroit Tigers. Kepler is batting .244\/.344\/.390 with 13 doubles, nine homers and 39 RBI in 85 games.<\/span><\/p>\n

To replace Kepler and San\u00f3, the Twins have recalled infielder Tim Beckham and outfielder Mark Contreras from Triple-A Saint Paul. Beckham, who signed with the Twins in the off-season to a minor-league contract, has played in 33 games for the Saints. He is hitting .413 with six doubles, five home runs and 31 RBI. Beckham last played in the majors in 2019 with the\u00a0<\/span>Seattle Mariners<\/span><\/a>. Contreras is making his third appearance with Minnesota in 2022, getting just one hit with two RBI in six games.<\/span><\/p>\n

Twins Sign\u00a0<\/span>Brad Peacock<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Twins have signed veteran right-hander Brad Peacock to a minor league contract. Peacock will play for Triple-A St. Paul as he was granted his release from a minor league deal with the\u00a0<\/span>Kansas City Royals<\/span><\/a>. The 34-year-old reliever has dealt with injuries the last few seasons. He had shoulder surgery in 2020 and then battled neck and shoulder injuries throughout the 2019 season. It doesn’t sound promising, but Peacock has put up a solid 2022 campaign. He pitched a 1.64 ERA with the Royals’ top affiliate this year.<\/span><\/p>\n
