Prior to the start of the MLB lockout in early December, they managed to stay busy. They signed shortstops Marcus Semien and Corey Seager, as well as pitcher Jon Gray. With all of their recent activity, the Texas Rangers certainly have the look and feel of a very competitive team.

Versatility is Key

The Texas Rangers are getting a very skilled infielder in Miller. He has the ability to play first base, second base, and shortstop as well as the outfield. He gives the Rangers options, something that they were short on last year compared to this year. The Texas Rangers were able to sign Miller via free agency. He spent the 2021 season with the Philadelphia Phillies. During his time in the city of brotherly love, Miller had a slash line of .227/.321/.453. He slugged 20 home runs, and drove in 49 runs in 140 games.

Well Traveled

The Texas Rangers love everything that Miller brings to the table. He has a lot of patience at the plate as well. He has decent power, but he could stand to spray some more base hits around the field also. The 32-year old infielder is a lifetime .239/.317/.425 hitter. In 947 career games, he has hit 115 home runs and he has 367 RBI. In his nine years in the major leagues, he has also spent time with the Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, Milwaukee Brewers, Cleveland Guardians, and St. Louis Cardinals. All in all, Miller should fit in nicely with the Texas Rangers. They are a very young and promising team. With Opening Day fast approaching, they should be a very strong force to be reckoned with during the 2022 season.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Players Mentioned:

Brad Miller, Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, Jon Gray

On Tuesday evening, the Texas Rangers signed infielder Brad Miller, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. With only weeks to go until Opening Day, the Rangers are stocking up on personnel.
