They&#8217;re even worse when they involve a team&#8217;s top hitter and top pitcher.\u00a0<span class=\"hardreadability\">The Mariners injuries from the game against Detroit on April 25, 2017 have put both on the disabled list.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hernafe02.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Felix Hernandez<\/a><\/strong> Injury<\/h3>\n<p>Mariners manager <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/servasc01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scott Servais<\/a><\/strong> removed Hernandez from the game after two rocky innings. Following the game, Servais told the media that it was &#8220;dead arm.&#8221; Hernandez was flown back to Seattle to undergo a MRI on his throwing arm. The results of the MRI will give a time table for Hernandez&#8217;s return. Seattle has placed him on the 10-day disabled list, calling it right shoulder fatigue.<\/p>\n<p>Hernandez is 2-2 on the season in five starts. His ERA is currently 4.73 and he holds a 1.575 WHIP in 26.7 innings pitched. He has struck out 22, walked three, and allowed six home runs. <span class=\"hardreadability\">Mariners have recalled lefty <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/o\/overtdi01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dillon Overton<\/a><\/strong> from Triple-A\u00a0Tacoma to take Hernandez&#8217;s next start<\/span>. After hitting a single, he exited due to a strained oblique, which he has been fighting for a week or so. Seattle placed him on the 10-day DL while he recovers.<\/p>\n<p>Haniger leads the American League in runs scored after 21 games, with 20. His slash line of .338\/.442\/.600\/1.042 places him among the games top sluggers. He is also a quality outfielder, with 45 put-outs and one assist in 47 chances. <span class=\"hardreadability\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/motteta01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taylor Motter<\/a><\/strong> should pull the starts while Haniger is out, as he has a solid slash line of .250\/.311\/.625\/.936 in 61 plate appearances<\/span>.
