Miguel Sano Suspension<\/h2>\n
Miguel Sano<\/a><\/strong> is currently appealing a one-game suspension for his role in the brawl Saturday night<\/span>. The Sano suspension comes following a pitch thrown behind him by Matt Boyd<\/a><\/strong> in the fifth inning. Sano took exception to the pitch and went after Boyd. Tigers catcher James McCann <\/a><\/strong>stepped between, and Sano hit him in the face. Both benches cleared, but no further action occurred. Home plate umpire Jordan Baker<\/a><\/strong> ejected Sano for punching McCann. He also tossed Boyd for throwing at Sano.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Twins 3B Miguel San\u00f3 has received a 1-game suspension for his “aggressive actions” Saturday against Detroit, which caused benches to clear.<\/p>\n

Under the collective bargaining agreement, Sano can play while his appeal is pending. This allows the Twins to keep one of their top bats in the game. With a slash line of .241\/.413\/.569\/.982, and four home runs in 75 plate appearances. Sano stands as one of the top young sluggers in the American League today. He also shows great patience at the plate, drawing a lead leaguing 17 walks.<\/div>\n

Sano will most likely drop his appeal, and serve his suspension on his next scheduled rest day. Thus, the damage to his team in minimized, but he will lose a game’s pay while serving the one-game ban.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Boyd Fine<\/h2>\n
Boyd denied that the pitch at Sano was intentional or in retaliation. Rather, he pitched inside to Sano, and the ball got away from him. For that pitch, MLB issued an unspecified fine, but no suspension.<\/div>\n

Jones on DL<\/h2>\n
The pitch to Sano came following two innings after Tigers CF JaCoby Jones<\/a><\/strong> ate a pitch from Twins reliever Justin Haley<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. The pitch staggered Jones<\/a>, who ran down the third-base line before collapsing on the field. Jones required nine stitches to close the wound and is on the 10-Day disabled list. He was fortunate not to lose any teeth to the fastball. Jones’ 100% fielding rate in center field will be a big gap for anyone to fill. His slash line is not overly high, .150\/.244\/.300\/.544, with a WAR of 0.3.\u00a0While Jones is on the DL, the Tigers have selected the contract of Toledo Mud Hen Jim Adduci<\/a><\/strong>.<\/div>\n
