ARLINGTON, Texas, October 3 \u2014 The Texas Rangers<\/a> have finished 2021 with a record of 60\u2013102. They lost their season finale to the Cleveland Indians<\/a> on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 6\u20130. Now the off-season work begins for the Texas Rangers. Manager Chris Woodward<\/a> has hinted that the roster will look a lot different in 2022. At this point, it isn’t clear as to what it will look like, but changes must and will be made. Here is a recap of the Rangers’ last game of 2021.<\/p>\n Right-hander Dane Dunning got the ball for Texas in the matinee. In the midst of being shut out, Dunning was handed the loss. He ends the season with a final record of 5\u201310, and an earned run average of 4.51. He pitched three innings on Sunday and gave up four runs, all earned, on five hits. Dunning walked one and struck out three. One positive takeaway from Dunning’s final start this year is that he didn’t give up any home runs. All of the runs that he gave up were on hits that were on the ground. Right-hander Matt Bush also made a surprise appearance in this one. He was coming off a long bout with right elbow inflammation. He pitched an inning and struck out one.<\/p>\n Mike Foltynewicz, Dennis Santana, Jharel Cotton, and Drew Anderson also pitched in this one. Everyone after Foltynewicz pitched an inning apiece. For Cleveland, righty Aaron Civale got the win. He finishes the year with a record of 12\u20135, and an earned run average of 3.84. He pitched six innings in the finale and only gave up three hits and one walk. It must be a surreal feeling to be able to say that you pitched in and won the last game that the Cleveland Indians will ever call themselves the Indians. They’ll be changing their names to the Cleveland Guardians<\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n The Indians got an early 1\u20130 lead thanks to a single by Amed Rosario. Myles Straw was able to score on the play. A wild pitch from Dunning in the top of the third inning allowed Rosario to score from third. Shortly after that, Jose Ramirez crossed the dish on a single by Bradley Zimmer. This made the score 3\u20130. The inning didn’t stop there. A ground-rule double by Oscar Mercado brought in another run, this time in the person of Zimmer. Their final two runs of the game, and the season for that matter, came on a two-run home run by Yu Chang.
