ARLINGTON, Texas, October 2 \u2014 The Texas Rangers<\/a> were able to even up their series against the Cleveland Indians<\/a>\u00a0at one game apiece on Saturday night. Rangers’ righty Jordan Lyles looked especially sharp in his final start of the 2021 season. He got the winning decision in the home nine’s 7\u20132 victory.<\/p>\n He finishes the 2021 season with a record of 10\u201313 and an ERA of 5.15. Lyles pitched seven innings on Saturday. He gave up one earned run on two hits. He walked one and struck out eight. Right-hander Triston McKenzie took the loss for the Indians. He finishes 2021 with a 5\u20139 record, and an ERA of 4.95. It was a night of fours for McKenzie. He pitched four innings, and gave up four runs, all earned, on four hits. He also walked four batters, struck out two, and surrendered two home runs.<\/p>\n The Texas Rangers managed to score seven runs against Cleveland on Saturday. They got things started right away in the bottom of the first inning. Willie Calhoun led off the inning with a solo home run to right field. Calhoun made history with this homer, as it made him the first-ever in history to lead off the first inning with a home run at Globe Life Park.<\/p>\n Things would stay quiet for the Rangers until the bottom of the fourth. Then Jonah Heim stepped up to the plate and hit a three-run home run to make the score 4\u20131. Andy Ibanez and Nathaniel Lowe represented two of those runs. Fast forward to the bottom of the eighth inning. Ibanez drove in two more with a single to left field that scored Lowe and Adolis Garcia. Moments later, Charlie Culberson was used as a pinch-hitter. He doubled to left field and drove in Ibanez and Heim. Those seven runs were all they needed to secure their 60th win of the year.<\/p>\n The Texas Rangers surrendered only two runs in this one. The first came in the top of the third inning on a double to left by Myles Straw. This drove in Yu Chang. Finally, in the top of the ninth inning, Franmil Reyes singled to right field to drive in Straw.<\/p>\n The Rangers play their final game of the 2021 season on Sunday afternoon against these Indians. It will be a duel of righties.
