Texas lost three out of four to Houston at Globe Life Field this week. In the finale on Thursday, they limped to the 12–1 final score. Their next opponent is the Chicago White Sox for three games. That series will start on Friday evening. Here is what happened in Thursday’s series finale against Houston.

Seven in the Fourth

Glenn Otto got the start for Texas. He gave up seven earned runs on seven hits. He walked four and struck out three, all in one inning. Otto took the loss and is now 0–2 on the year. The game remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning. That’s when Houston opened the flood gates. It began on a three-run shot by Carlos Correa that would bring home Yuli Gurriel and Kyle Tucker. Then Jake Meyers and Martin Maldonado scored on a single by Alex Bregman. This gave them a 5–0 lead. Next, Yordan Alvarez doubled, allowing Jose Altuve to score.

Their final run in the fourth came courtesy of a single by Gurriel that scored Bregman. It would stay 7–0 until the top of the sixth. Maldonado and Altuve both scored on a single by Bregman. Fans were getting frustrated at this point. Then in the top of the eighth, Houston added two more. They came on a two-run home run off the bat of Chas McCormick. Gurriel was the man on base at the time. To cap it off, Jake Meyers hit a ground-rule double that allowed Correa to score. It is safe to say that the Texas Rangers are going to be relieved to see Houston leave town.

One for the Rangers

Right-hander Luis Garcia got the win for Houston. He now has a record of 11–7 on the year with a 3.37 ERA. He gave up one run on five hits, walked three, and struck out two. The one run for the Rangers came in the bottom of the sixth inning. Isiah Kiner-Falefa crossed the plate on a double, compliments of Willie Calhoun. The Rangers didn’t look comfortable on Thursday by any means. Hopefully, they’ll have better fortune against Chicago in the coming days.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Players Mentioned:

Glenn Otto, Yuli Gurriel, Kyle Tucker, Jake Meyers, Martin Maldonado, Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez, Jose Altuve, Chas McCormick, Luis Garcia, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Willie Calhoun

Astros 12, Rangers 1 ARLINGTON, Texas, September 16 — If there was one bright spot about the Texas Rangers‘ recent series with the Houston Astros, it’s that it’s over.
