The 19-year old from the Dominican Republic is the #11 ranked prospect in baseball, according to MLB.com. Luciano was the top-rated middle infielder in the 2018 international class and figures to be an all-star level talent in the majors.

Marco Luciano hit .278 with 18 homers and 57 RBI in 70 games with Low-A San Jose before his promotion. He still needs to develop his plate discipline, as he struck out 68 times in those 70 games. However, his bat makes him a must-see talent at the plate. He ranks among the best in the minors in both power and bat speed. Luciano also has a very high baseball IQ and a plus arm. He’s a smooth defender at the shortstop position. However, some figure he will slide over to the hot corner and play third base in the future.

Marco Luciano Leads Impressive Bunch of Giants Rookies

Luciano should finish the minor league season as a member of the Emeralds and will begin the 2022 season in Double-A. Farhan Zaidi and the Giants are not in favor of rushing their young talent and emphasize rookie development. Fans should set their sights on a 2023 ETA for the young Marco Luciano.

Luciano appeared in this year’s futures game along with the club’s #3 ranked prospect Heliot Ramos. The Giants also have catching prospect Joey Bart. Bart is baseball’s #2 ranked catching prospect behind Baltimore Orioles prospect Adley Rutschman.

The trio, along with others, makes up a very bright future for the San Francisco Giants. Although Luciano is still young, he looks to be as much of a sure thing for the Giants as a sure thing could be. Fans have every right to be excited as a potential superstar of the future moves one step closer to the show.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Players Mentioned:

Heliot Ramos, Marco Luciano, Joey Bart, Adley Rutschman

The San Francisco Giants have promoted their top-ranked prospect, Marco Luciano, to the High-A Eugene Emeralds.
