ARLINGTON, Texas, July 27 \u2014 There was a massive ease in tension in Arlington on Tuesday night. The Texas Rangers<\/a> ended their 12-game losing streak. On this night, they took the opener of a two-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The final score was 5\u20134. These two teams will face each other again Wednesday night at 7:05 PM Central. The Diamondbacks will send lefty Madison Bumgarner to the mound. The Rangers will counter with right-hander Jordan Lyles. Here is a recap of Tuesday’s action.<\/p>\n The Rangers and Diamondbacks traded zeros in the first two innings. The scoring started for Arizona in the top of the third inning. Kole Calhoun drove in Daulton Varsho on a fly ball off of Rangers starter Dane Dunning. It was caught by Adolis Garcia. Arizona’s next run would come in the top of the fourth. Christian Walker crossed the plate on a double-play that was hit into by David Peralta. The Diamondbacks wouldn’t score another run until the top of the eighth inning. This was thanks to Pavin Smith. He singled allowing Varsho to score his second run of the evening. The aforementioned Christian Walker singled in Smith for Arizona’s final run.<\/p>\n The left-handed light tower of power Joey Gallo\u00a0provided most of the Rangers’ runs. He hit a three-run shot off Arizona righty Taylor Widener in the botton of the fourth. This brought Gallo’s total on the year to 25. This marks the third time in his six-year career that Gallo has hit 25 homers in a season. \u00a0Earlier in that same inning, Brock Holt and Eli White each scored on a ground-rule double hit by Nate Lowe. He now prefers to be called Nathaniel. Widener surrendered all five of the Rangers’ runs, and took the loss. His record now stands at 1-1 on the season.<\/p>\n Right-hander Dane Dunning got the ball for the Rangers in the opener. He pitched well on this night. Over six and a third innings, he surrendered two runs. Both were earned, on six hits. He struck out three, and walked two. Later that evening, Dunning did a little walking of his own by walking away with the win. This his record to 4-7 on the year. Joe Barlow, Spencer Patton, and Joely Rodriguez would take things from there. Patton gave up the other two runs. That would set things up for closer Ian Kennedy in the ninth.
