Hernandez led the Blue Jays with 16 home runs and 34 RBI for a breakout 2020 season. He posted a 146 OPS+, ranked seventh in the AL with a .519 slugging percentage and a .919 OPS. Hern\u00e1ndez tied for the league lead with seven assists while\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/awards\/awards_2020.shtml#all_AL_MVP_voting\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">finishing 11th<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> in the final tally of AL MVP voting. The Silver Slugger recipient was eligible for arbitration for the first time in his career. Last season, Hern\u00e1ndez earned $578,600. At the 2020 trade deadline, They managed to acquire both <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/rayro02.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Robbie Ray<\/a><\/strong><\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and Ross Stripling in separate deals. Now, they have both pitchers back on one-year contracts.
