On Thursday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/category\/rangers\/\" target=\"_self\">Texas Rangers<\/a> traded for first baseman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lowena01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Nate Lowe<\/strong><\/a> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/category\/rays\/\" target=\"_self\">Tampa Bay Rays<\/a>. It&#8217;s still two weeks until the Christmas holiday, and the Rangers already have several stocking stuffers.<\/p>\n<h2>Trade Specifics<\/h2>\n<p>The Rangers are getting Lowe as part of a six-player swap that includes catcher-outfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=hernan004her&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Heriberto Hernandez<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong> They are also getting first baseman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=guenth000jak&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jake Guenther<\/strong> <\/a>and a player to be named later in the deal. Meanwhile, the Rangers are sending Minor League infielder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=basabe000osl&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Osleivis Basabe<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> and outfield prospect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=ovalle001ale&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Alexander Ovalles<\/strong><\/a> to the Rays. It will be very interesting to see if there are more puzzle pieces that emerge for the Rangers before Opening Day.<\/p>\n<h2>Fresh Face at First<\/h2>\n<p>The Rangers have gotten a young glove at first base in Nate Lowe. To date, the 25-year old has 286 career at-bats and a career batting average of .251. In 2020, he hit .224 with four home runs, 11 RBI, and 10 runs scored. The Rangers have to be excited about his glove, as he has put up a career fielding percentage of .994 in 2019. A lot of fans will be curious to see how Manager <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/w\/woodwch01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Chris Woodward<\/strong><\/a> plans to fit him in the lineup.<\/p>\n<h2>Busy Time of Year<\/h2>\n<p>As well as appointing a new General Manager in former pitcher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=youngch04,youngch03,young-007chr&amp;search=Chris+Young&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Chris Young<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> the Rangers also made a deal earlier in the week that sent their ace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lynnla01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Lance Lynn<\/strong><\/a> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/baseball\/category\/whitesox\/\" target=\"_self\">Chicago White Sox<\/a> in exchange for righty <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/d\/dunnida01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Dane Dunning<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> and left-hander <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=weems-000ave&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Avery Weems<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong> This was a trade that many Rangers fans did not want to see, but were expecting at some point in time.
