The shortstop spent just two seasons there and was traded to the New York Yankees. Gregorius had the near-impossible task of replacing Derek Jeter as the Yankees shortstop. It was a job Gregorius did admirably. In five seasons with New York, he hit 97 homers and drove in 360 runs, but more than that he was a fan favorite.

His final year with the Yankees did not go the way he wanted. Due to injury, he played just 82 games, hitting .238 with a .276 on-base percentage. In order to rebuild his value in hopes of a multi-year deal, he signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. Gregorius proved this decision to be the right one, as he had a resurgent 2020. The 30 year old had a .284/ .339/ .488 slashline, adding 22 extra-base hits and 40 RBI.

Overall, Gregorius has a .265/.315/.433 career slashline. The veteran has hit 120 home runs in his career. He has been a solid run producer in his career, scoring 451 runs and driving in 457 RBI.

Back With the Phillies

As the rest of the National League East is adding big players the Phillies have brought back another starter from last year. Gregorius is a favorite of manager Joe Girardi from their time together with the Yankees.
