It was a week full of doubleheaders as all the teams that lost games due to the COVID-19 postponements are now making up those games. With only three weeks left in the season, every game counts, and all games need to be made up. This past week had the usual long ball happenings. Grand slams, walk-off homers, game-winners, multi-homer games, and some more rookies hitting their first career bombs. There were 263 home runs hit in the week bringing the season total to 1,572. Let’s take a look at this week in home runs for the week of August 31st.<\/p>\n
The week featured three-homer games as four players accomplished were able to round the bases three times. On Tuesday we had two players accomplish this. Marcell Ozuna<\/a><\/strong> of the Atlanta Braves<\/a> hit three home runs in Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox<\/a>. Alex Dickerson<\/a><\/strong> of the San Francisco Giants<\/a> matched Ozuna later on in the night in a game against the Colorado Rockies<\/a>. The next day we had another Brave hit three home runs in a game. Adam Duvall<\/a><\/strong> once again victimized the Red Sox. On Saturday Eugenio Suarez<\/a><\/strong> of the Cincinnati Reds<\/a> slugged his three homers against the Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a>.<\/p>\n
