The New York Mets<\/a> made a statement on Saturday<\/a> saying that both the traveling party and remaining players in Miami have all tested negative. The entire team will continue to get tested and self-isolate until further notice.<\/p>\n

Positive Tests<\/h2>\n

The New York Mets have been inactive since their last game against the Miami Marlins<\/a> on Wednesday. They are not scheduled to play again until Tuesday night at home against Miami.<\/p>\n

New York had both a position player and a coach test positive but did not release the individuals’ names. Mets slugger Pete Alonso<\/a><\/strong> though took to Instagram<\/a> and said he was not the player who test positive.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, the only thing you can do in life is smile,” Alonso wrote. “There’s a lot of bulls–t and negativity that is in our world. We can choose to cave in and keep feeding the negative energy or we can choose to find the good. Every day is a blessing regardless of the circumstances.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Critical Point of Season<\/h2>\n

The Mets were at a critical point in their season after winning the last three games before being shut down. They were expected to play the New York Yankees<\/a> in six of their next nine games starting Friday. They will have to make up that series and one game with Miami later this season.<\/p>\n

Yankees manager Aaron Boone<\/a><\/strong> hinted at possibly a doubleheader<\/a> on Monday, but there has been no confirmation from MLB.<\/p>\n

With the restriction on travel with games only being played by location, the Mets may play a doubleheader at Citi Field one day this week with the Marlins being considered the home team.<\/p>\n

That could also be a possibility this coming weekend as the two teams are meeting for the final time this season. The Mets and Yankees, though, do have common off-days on September 3 and 14, so there should be no issue in the Mets finishing a complete regular season.<\/p>\n
