We saw two different streaks of four homers. There were multiple grand slams and game-winning homers with one being an inside the park homer. Two more players hit their first career home runs and one player is slowly carving out a place in baseball history.<\/p>\n<p>With the league settling in and hopefully the COVID-19 slowly becomes a thing of the past we can finally enjoy the season-long stretch run as the league is heading towards the trade deadline. The homers are starting to come in bunches with some new names and faces stepping onto the scene.<\/p>\n<h2>Streaks Aplenty<\/h2>\n<p>Streaks were the theme of the week with three very different long ball streaks. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=smithdo02,smith-001dom&amp;search=Dominic+Smith&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dominic Smith<\/a><\/strong> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/new-york-mets\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Mets<\/a> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/rendoan01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anthony Rendon<\/a><\/strong> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/los-angeles-angels\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Angels<\/a> both homered in four consecutive games. It&#8217;s no surprise that Rendon got on a run like this. He did finish third in the NL MVP voting last season when he hit 34 homers. As for Smith, he didn&#8217;t start off this season as an everyday player. When <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/cespeyo01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yoenis Cespedes<\/a><\/strong> decided to opt-out, Smith stepped in and has not looked back.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/chicago-white-sox\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago White Sox<\/a> accomplished a feat this past Sunday when they hit four straight dingers off <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/st-louis-cardinals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">St. Louis Cardinals<\/a> rookie pitcher <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/ramirro02.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Roel Ramirez<\/a><\/strong>. Ramirez who was making his major league debut faced <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/moncayo01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yoan Moncada<\/a><\/strong> with two runners on. Moncada hit a three-run home run to get things started. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/g\/grandya01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yasmani Grandal<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/a\/abreujo02.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jose Abreu<\/a>,<\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jimenel02.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eloy Jimenez<\/a><\/strong> all followed with solo homers.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/streamable.com\/m\/eloy-jimenez-homers-7-on-a-line-drive-to-left-field\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=olsonma02,olson-004mat&amp;search=Matt+Olson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Olson<\/a><\/strong> had a streak of his own. The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/oakland-athletics\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oakland Athletics<\/a> first baseman hit three home runs in the week. But more amazing was that it capped a streak where the last seven hits that Olson had were long balls. The streak ran across two weeks and ended at seven homers.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/streamable.com\/m\/olson-llega-a-8-jonrones\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Three Homer Game<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bettsmo01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mookie Betts<\/a><\/strong> is certainly living up to the big contract extension the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/los-angeles-dodgers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a> gave him. During an 11-2 drubbing of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/san-diego-padres\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">San Diego Padres<\/a>, Betts slugged three home runs for the sixth time in his career. Betts tied both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/sosasa01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Sammy Sosa<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mizejo01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Johnny Mize<\/strong><\/a> for the most career three-homer games. Betts has accomplished this in far fewer games than either player.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/streamable.com\/m\/mookie-betts-4-hit-day\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Multi Homer Games<\/h2>\n<p>The previous two weeks saw 12 players have two-homer games. This week the total was upped to 16 with some repeat offenders. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/t\/troutmi01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Mike Trout<\/strong><\/a> of the Angels and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/renfrhu01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Hunter Renfroe<\/strong><\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/tampa-bay-rays\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tampa Bay Rays<\/a> both had their second two-homer games of the season. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hernate01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Teoscar Hernandez<\/strong><\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/toronto-blue-jays\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> had his third two-homer game of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Seven other National League players had multi-homer games. After all, it scores four runs and can turn a close game into a rout or erase a large lead. Seven total grand slams were hit in the week. That&#8217;s a whole lot of mustard.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/g\/gregodi01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Didi Gregorius<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/machama01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Manny Machado<\/a><\/strong>, and Mets backup catcher Tomas Nido had the three National League salamis for the week. In the American League Eddie Rosario, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/seageky01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyle Seager<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/martijd02.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">J.D. Martinez<\/a><\/strong> had their slams.<\/p>\n<p>The Athletics seem to hit grand slams every day. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/p\/piscost01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stephen Piscotty<\/a><\/strong> hit his second slam of the season. The previous week Piscotty&#8217;s slam was a game-winner. This time Piscotty only tied the game.<\/p>\n<h2>Game Winning Homeruns<\/h2>\n<p>The game-winning home run is the best way to send the crowd home happy. Well, this year there are no crowds to send home happy but the games go on. However, sometimes the game winners are hit by the visiting teams. The true definition of a game-winning home run is when the homer is hit in your team&#8217;s last time at-bat. This past week there were nine game-winning home runs with only one being a walk-off home run.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday Mike Trout hit his big home run in the eighth inning giving the Angels the victory over the Athletics. The next day <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/g\/gyorkje01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jedd Gyorko<\/a><\/strong> had his game-winning home run in the eighth inning leading the Brewers to a win over the Twins. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/haysau01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Austin Hays<\/a><\/strong> of the Orioles hit a two run inside the park homer in the top of the 10th inning to defeat the Phillies.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday we had two game-winning homers. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/canhama01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Mark Canha<\/strong><\/a> hit a three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to lead the A&#8217;s over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/san-francisco-giants\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">San Francisco Giants<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/d\/duvalad01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Adam Duvall&#8217;s<\/strong><\/a> home run led the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/atlanta-braves\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Atlanta Braves<\/a> to a victory over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/miami-marlins\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Miami Marlins<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The week closed with four big blasts. In a game that started on Saturday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lowebr01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Brandon Lowe<\/strong><\/a> hit a ninth-inning homer leading the Rays to a victory over the Blue Jays. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/e\/escobed01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Eduardo Escobar<\/strong><\/a> hit an eight-inning home run leading the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/arizona-diamondbacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> to a victory over the Padres. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/a\/adamewi01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Willy Adames<\/strong><\/a> hit a ninth-inning home run for the Rays who defeated the Blue Jays for the second straight game with a home run in the ninth inning. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/t\/tuckeky01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Kyle Tucker<\/strong><\/a> hit the only walk-off home run of the week leading the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/houston-astros\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Houston Astros<\/a> to a victory over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/seattle-mariners\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Seattle Mariners<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Welcome to the Show<\/h2>\n<p>We also had two more players hit their first career home runs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/harrimo01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Monte Harrison<\/strong><\/a> of the Marlins hit his first career dinger against the Braves. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/ruizke01.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Keibert Ruiz<\/strong><\/a> hit his home run in his first career major league at-bat against the Angels.<\/p>\n<h2>Weekly Home Run Leaders<\/h2>\n<p>Two former teammates shared the weekly home run high for the week. Anthony Rendon and former Nationals teammate Juan Soto each slugged five homers. Soto just returned to the team after missing the beginning of the season due to testing positive for COVID-19. Seven other players hit four home runs and some of the names are surprises.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Santander of the Orioles, Brandon Lowe of the Rays, and Jesse Winker of the Reds all joined Dominic Smith with four round-trippers. The other three are names we all expect to see on this list. Mike Trout of the Angels, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/realmjt01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">J.T.
