Since July 14th, the Milwaukee Brewers<\/a> have played seven blue\/gold intrasquad games against each other. The finale concluded Tuesday in a 2-2 tie when star Christian Yelich<\/strong><\/a> bounced into a double play. While the game may have been uneventful, for an intrasquad game that can often be a positive result. Several pitchers got necessary work in and key players put some great swings on the ball.<\/p>\n

Tune Up Outing<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Brewers have announced that ace Brandon Woodruff<\/strong> <\/a>and Corbin Burnes<\/a><\/strong> are starting Friday and Saturday against the Cubs<\/strong><\/a>. Manager Craig Counsell<\/a><\/strong>, however, has not named a starter for the final game of the series on Sunday. If Tuesday is any indication, it could come down to a decision between Freddy Peralta or Brent Suter.<\/p>\n

Freddy Peralta<\/a><\/strong> looked very sharp as he featured a newly developed slider. He was able to command it for strike one and bury it down and away to right-handed hitters as a putaway pitch. This is something the Brewers should be excited about going forward.\u00a0 Peralta will be considered strongly for a rotation spot, especially with Brett Anderson<\/a><\/strong> starting the season on the IL.<\/p>\n

Another strong option is Brent Suter<\/a>. <\/strong>Suter has pitched both as a starter and out of the pen for the Brewers for the past four season. He works fast and keeps the hitters off balance. He is the type of pitcher who can both spot start, and provide length in the middle innings.<\/p>\n

Sigh of Relief<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It was nice to see Keston Hiura<\/strong> <\/a>out there playing second base, as he has been battling a sore elbow. It was stated more as arm fatigue, but Hiura has had issues with his elbow back to his college days. He singled to right and made it clear that he is ready to go as he was miked up during the game. Hiura is a player the Brewers would love to see take the next step towards being a star second basemen.<\/p>\n

Offensive Highlights<\/strong><\/h3>\n

With only five innings being played and half the runs being scored on sac flies, there wasn’t too much excitement to go around. Non-roster invitee Jace Peterson<\/a><\/strong> lined a solo homer to right to tie the game at one in the third. The homer came off one of Peralta’s only mistakes.<\/p>\n

Orlando Arcia<\/a><\/strong> showed off some much needed power and speed as he opened his half of the fifth with a leadoff triple to left center. Backup outfielder Ben Gamel<\/strong><\/a> had a nice opposite field double as well.<\/p>\n

No Braun<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A noticeable omission from Tuesday’s game was veteran Ryan Braun<\/strong><\/a>. He has been out of action with general soreness throughout his upper body. With only three days remaining until Opening Day, the possibility of Braun in the lineup is not looking good. The Brewers would love to see him get some swings Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Up Next<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Brewers will travel to Chicago to take on the White Sox<\/a><\/strong> for their final tune-up game of the 2020 summer camp.\u00a0 This will allow the Brewers to get settled in Chicago as they take on the Cubs Friday night under the lights.<\/p>\n
