A robust farm system can provide depth to a contending ballclub, as well as help a struggling franchise surge into contention as they debut their city&#8217;s next superstar.<\/p>\n<p>So, without further ado, here are the top 10 MLB farm systems.<\/p>\n<p><em>Note: Player rankings are compiled from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/prospects\/stats\/top-prospects#pitchers\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MLB Pipeline\u2019s<\/a> Top 100 prospects list.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>No. 10 \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/san-francisco-giants\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">San Francisco Giants<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Although the Giants finished 2019 with their third straight losing season and completed their worst three-year stretch since 1983-85, the future is bright in San Francisco. This is due to the great draft selections and superb international scouting the Giants have rendered over the last few years. As a result, their farm system is stronger than it has been in a decade.<\/p>\n<p>The Giants system is highlighted by catcher <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=bart--000joe&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joey Bart<\/a><\/strong> (No. 14), who is expected to eventually take over behind the dish for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/p\/poseybu01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buster Posey<\/a><\/strong>. The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/g\/greinza01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zack Greinke<\/a><\/strong> trade and a stacked 2019 draft class were significant contributors to this haul. Seattle places three prospects in the Top 40 &#8212; outfielder <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=keleni000jar&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jarred Kelenic<\/a><\/strong> (No. 11), outfielder<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=rodrig013jul,rodrig010jul,rodrig014jul&amp;search=Julio+Rodriguez&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Julio Rodriguez<\/a><\/strong> (No. 18), and starting pitcher<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=gilber000log&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Logan Gilbert<\/a><\/strong> (No. 38). The stars of this system include starting pitcher <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=sanche000six&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sixto Sanchez<\/a><\/strong> (No. 22) and outfielder <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=bleday000jef&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JJ Bleday<\/a><\/strong> (No. 28). Sanchez, who was acquired from the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonbaseball.com\/mlb-teams\/philadelphia-phillies\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Philadelphia Phillies<\/a> in 2019, is the eighth-highest ranked pitcher in the Top 100 and is considered to be the future Marlins ace. They&#8217;ve won seven consecutive NL West titles and are coming off a franchise-record 106 victories in 2019. Their homegrown talent is a substantial reason for this, and they&#8217;ve got plenty more of it waiting in the wings.
