The fall from grace hasn’t been easy for former Texas Rangers<\/a> star Josh Hamilton<\/a><\/strong>. The former 2010 American League MVP was recently indicted on a felony charge for injury to a minor per reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Details<\/strong><\/h2>\n

On Monday, the 38-year-old was indicted by a Tarrant County grand jury for his incident in September of 2019. That incident included accusations of hitting and scratching his oldest of three children.<\/p>\n

As noted by Jozelyn Escobedo of ABC 8 WFAA<\/a>, per police reports, Hamilton told his daughter to tell a judge “what a terrible dad I am” so that she wouldn’t have to go to his house again. According to the warrant, Hamilton threw a full water bottle at his daughter’s chest. Also included in that was a report that Hamilton took a chair out from underneath his daughter and threw it at her.<\/p>\n

What followed was Hamilton allegedly taking his daughter to a room, pinning her on a bed, and hitting her repeatedly on the back of the legs. Hamilton’s ex-wife Katie has since filed a temporary restraining order on her daughter’s behalf.<\/p>\n

A Fall From Grace\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It’s been five years since Hamilton has graced a major league dugout. The 2010 AL MVP was revered as one of the best talents in MLB in the early 2010s<\/p>\n

Over the course of nine playing seasons, Hamilton has played for three teams. Those teams included the Rangers, the Cincinnati Reds<\/a>, and the Los Angeles Angels<\/a> in one of the largest free-agent contracts <\/a>of the time. The latter contract was one Hamilton himself never saw through to its conclusion. Additionally, Hamilton’s career showed a lot of firepower as evidence by his 200 home runs and 50 steals. That’s not to mention his career slash line of .290\/.349\/.516 along with a career OPS+ of 129.<\/p>\n

Hamilton’s career is also defined just as much from what he did off the field as on it. The 1999 top-draft pick had a number of instances of drug abuse and addiction. These demons delayed the true start of his career and now abuse of a different level is dominating the Josh Hamilton conversation.<\/p>\n
